It’s 3am and I’m being kept awake by a comment made by an off duty pair of police women this evening. I was out with my assistant coach and a young lad I am training to become a coach at a local bar. The young lad started chatting up this young girl while my mate and I just got on with having a beer and having a chat while not cramping Liam’s style. Eventually I got involved in a conversation with the 2 girls and Liam.

Liam then mentioned that both where Policewomen to which I asked what station as I know some older policemen and women etc just for idle conversation. She told me she switched from station to station etc, so to continue I thought I would let her know I appreciated her commitment.

“I was thinking of apply…” Didn’t even get to finish the sentence before she interrupted.

“Oh another pathetic, I was going to be a copper asshole” you people make me sick, if you knew what I have to deal with…. At witch point Mr Nice left the pub, went on holiday for good as far as young coppers are concerned.

I have paid my dues, killed, watched friends die and on more than a few occasions helped the coppers out in “situations” until backup arrived. And I get a 20-something slut ridicule, belittle and humiliate me while I am complimenting her and the force.

Well in a nut shell, that’s the last time you inept, useless bunch of crooked back stabbing ****ers get any respect from me unless you earn it 1st. I've never so much as bent; let alone broke a fooking law, so if anything you tossers should be showing us respect not the other way round.

Can you tell I am livid.

Dont hold back..... lol

I know exactly what you mean, i had 2 female cops talk to me like shit in a hotel reception cause they didnt like my tempary parking, thats another part of the story to ! but point is they do try and make you look small and stupid

its down to individual manners and obviously this young lady was not brought up with any.

thankfully not all cops are like that, i have a few friends in the force who are normal down to earth people.

i remember many years ago i was out with my ex & my daughter & got a pull by the old bill (done nothing wrong "spot check" aka young guy driving a fast car - must be dodgy! )

the 2 of them spoke to me like crap! even though i tried to be polite & friendly. so i sent in a letter of complaint, turns out the chief super for kent at the time had the same surname as me & sent me a personal letter of apology as well as putting a permenant record on both of them stating what they had done!!

just a few jumped up power crazed individuals that give them a bad name IMO

i have a relative that is a copper and let me tell you as soon as he became one we were all beneath him ! They just think they are like the sheriff in all the old western films !

I am sorry you feel like that. I was one for 30 years (20 on traffic) so I took my fair share of shit and still do although I've been retired 10 years. People still introduce me to their 'friends' saying "he used to be a copper." You soon find out who is worth talking to. however it doesn't excuse their rude behaviour but does show it works both ways. I find that todays female cops are a lot more stroppy than they used to be and (serious comment) the further south you get the stroppier both sexes become.

I am afraid the Dixon of Dock Green days are long gone .

The only thing i would add is are you sure that they were who they said they were or maybe they were special constables chucking their weight about .

I think thats just the attitude young females (note i didnt say ladies) have down this end of the world they seem to think they can talk to men like shit. However there are certain Police Officers that are on a power trip and DO think they are a cut above and walk round with their nose in the air, i've had a few run ins with those type in the past, and i tell you never stand in the way of an ambitious man/woman especially if he/she is a copper. You proberbly ran into a couple of men hateing lesbian coppers, you should of said. And what one do you pretend to be Cagney or Lacey?

im still pissed of about it. I know not all coppers are bad, and I do understand that they have to put up with a lot of shit. But I swear to god, when someone is giving you a pat on the back you dont ever chuck it back in thier face. Treat people as they would treat you, so in the past 3 weeks I have had 3 coppers all on seperate occasions talk to me like I am a peice of shit. I wouldnt mind but one of these times I was giving them a statement so they could arrest teh right guy.

As for the north south devide, I supose that dependant on where you come from as I have just the same issues with northeners being rude to sotherners and its the other way round. thats just culture.

What goes around comes around. And I hope they get a lesson in humility arogant ****ers

Sounds to me like she was a stroppy 20 year old straight out of drama school and not a copper at all!

Might have even been stroppy as she thought you were trying to pull her!...She's probably so dumb that she doesn't know how to politely talk to someone of af any caliber of the opposite sex, without assuming that they're trying to come on to her!

If you were being kep't awake by the comments of some idiot like this then you obviously wern't drinking enough! Let it go, there's one born every minute!

I went out with a policewoman..........lasted about 4 weeks! She was on a complete power trip and into playing games, insanely insecure and probably bullied at school, hence now taking it out on the rest of the world.

Last Saturday , I`d been to view a car out in the countryside when I came to a big roundabout where my exit ( for the A13 ) was blocked by a Police car and cones . I drove around again and stopped to ask the copper how I could get back into London . He was very helpful , told me there`d been an accident on the A13 and gave me a couple of alternative routes homeward . I was in the Zed with the targas off and as I was about to go , he said " Nice car , by the way " . :)

Sooo , despite the old ditty , not " All coppers are b*stards " .

Couldnt agree more, but I seem to be plagued by the complete asshols. this girl was with her boyfriend who was a mate of liams, who I was talking to and was how I got talking to her.

Its twats like her that give the genuine coppers a bad rap. I know the beat officers round the club realy well, I have absolutly nothing but respect for them both. They choose to be beat officers and they genuinly give a shit about the people in teh communiity. These asswipes come out of school get given a partner and a car and they are off thinking they are starsky and hutch.

But this is irony for ya. I just bumped into a mate of mine who was out last night and his missus is a duty sargent at Leigh. He knows them and has just passed on to his missus the info.

So was she a Northern Copper Chris? :slap:

I think it's always been the case that 40% of Coppers have issues that stem from their past. These day though 80% of kids under 25 have anti social atitudes which means the chances of meating a decent individual in a Police uniform is getting much slimmer.

All the kids that went to school with me that became Coppers were all bullied at school. I once got pulled by a copper for having a rear indicator out. The copper was a lad who used to go to my school who I'd often stuck up for and befriended. ******* did me though and asked mr if i was trying to influece or corupt an officer from carrying out his duties.

The moral of the story is if you see someone being bullied or picked on, get strait over there and get the boot in Quick while you can.

How scary is your logic mark, very true, and very scary.

I swear I dont want to get old in this country with people like them in charge of my well being.

No I'm afraid it's going to be last native Brit the leave switch the lights out please.

Now you know why so many people now decide to take the law into their own hands rather than contact the Police cause all you get from them is a f***ing attitude.

Yes, I'm a copper and I have to say I agree with most of what's been posted.

I have never worked in an environment that's full of such absolute ars*holes. Yes they are usually the ones that were bullied once at school and now have an issue with everyone. And yes many go out of their way to cause members of the public as much inconvenience as they can.

On the flip side we are not all the same, and it does get my goat when everyone jumps on the band wagon and slates "us".

I work hard for my living and deal with volatile and dangerous situations daily, and it is hard to stay positive when it appears that every tom dick and harry wants to call you all the names under the sun, just because they bumped into one too many Robo-cops. Unfortunately there are far too many of these, new breed of coppers out there who try to emulate the tv coppers we so often see. I'm not that old, 34 infact and I have puppy walked many a police probationer and I have been stunned at the attitude they have. I don't think things are going to improve, as like stated earlier in the posts, many of these prats have come into the job with a chip on their shoulder and nothing will eradicate this.

I have been stopped many a time whilst out and about off duty, as I have a passion for fast cars and obviously this tends to attract the police, and I have met some right to*sers. It makes me sick to think that I am classed the same as them by so many, but I guess that's what I signed up for eh!

My advice, no matter how difficult it seems is to stay calm and let them do all of the talking. Listen to everything they say! This is important as many of them know very little, and tend to bluff. If they are out of line you have many options open to you as far as a complaint is concerned. If this is the case, inform the officer how you feel and take a name and collar number. These officers need to be found out and if more people complain they'll be discovered sooner. Whatever you do, don't lose your temper or start to get antagonised. They will use it against you in an instant!!!

Perhaps I'm too normal to be a copper these days! I know I'm the only copper where I work, that can walk the town after midnight on a busy weekend alone, and not get any problems. I put it down to the way I treat people and being fair. (Size helps too!) But if all the coppers were like this, then perhaps they'd gain some much needed respect.

I hope you can see my side of things folks, and thanks for reading my view.

Ade.

Well said , Ade

You and the PC who helped me out are not alone . But it is a shame when proper coppers ( no poetry intended :) ) have to admit that their force is recruiting people with " attitude " into such an important role in society . If they can`t act responsibly there`s obviously something wrong with the vetting/profiling system .

The Police are paid and employed by the citizens to keep law and order , and there would be chaos without them . But a bad copper . or one with a cynical sense of superiority , is far worse than a civillian with those traits .

Think I`ve done my twopennorth :)

Good Cops : Keep up the good work

Bad cops : give up the day job

Sory Ade. I realy am. I have met a few decent copper in my time. Unfortunatly I have met way to many dicks in uniform to give any I dont know the benefit of doubt.

Ive whitnessed a suprintendant walk away when yobs where causing trouble as he was "off duty" and I had to do his job for him.

Ive stood and listened as a group of coppers told me how they hate the chavs with modded cars and cant wait to pull them over and give tehm points for nothing just to piss them off. Not knowing I am one of the Chavs.

Ive been talked down to, ignored and kept waiting for no reason when I was helping the police out and not teh other way round.

You have my sypathy, but I am afraid this is one law abiding citizen whos lost all respect for the boys in blue.

The female officers behaviour was bad but maybe she had a bad day and just wanted to get out and forget about police work. I'm sure we have all been stressed out about something and taken our frustration out on an innocent party. This doesn't excuse her behaviour but sometimes its good to blow off a little steam, i wouldn't take it too personally Dave as a the police do a thankless job and i guess the alcohol made her tongue a little looser.

Just to add i agree with Dave as i too have lost faith in the Police, just thought i'd look at both sides.

My wife called the police on Friday as some kids were breaking into the garden sheds, we then got a call on Sunday from the HQ to ask if we were happy with the officers handling of the situation, we took little delight in informing them that we never heard from any officers and we are still waiting. :headvswal

Its All Down To The Individual, Ive Had Dealings With Some Great Coppers And Some Complete Power Crazed Idiots.

Same As I Get Nice Customers At Work And Flipping Arrogant Tail Ends.

There Has Been A Time Where I Have Never Been So Grateful For The Polices Presence.

Their Attitude And Assistance Was Brilliant And I Can Not Commend Them Enough. There Are Good And Bad In Any Proffession But As Usual The Bad Sorts Get More Attention Than The Good Ones. It Would Appear That Is Life, Mores The Pitty

young guy driving a fast car - must be dodgy!

1. They were right    :smash:
