Ok i was drivin home from work and decided to have a little rally down the bypass road by me so booted down it and all was fun and i then pulled off n just cruised back home and the Engine Temp just shot up and i was like just under the top line!So i gently got home and put HKS timer on 2mins (Neighbours woke up :))

After she turned off there was a weird souind from under the bonnet by the passenger tyre area! so that bottom right corner of the engine bay!Sounded almost like there was a stone rolling around on a Marble table or something!not like a gurgling sound but like a stone on marble!

Does this sound familiar to anybody? Not booted it asmuch as this before and no temperature issues before!Hope i havent broken something!

Thanks

Descriptions of sounds are difficult to diagnose, the cooling system will make all sorts of strange noises when its extremely hot, under high pressure or low on water.

Do not drive the car until the overheating problem is found.

So you let the engine tick over with it over heated? Engine proberbly pre detting due to over heating or oil got to hot and thin. Letting it tick over to cool the tubs down when youve over heated is a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, no water to cool anything down.

Sorry my mistake just read you got noise after you switched off :headvswal Could be the sound of what little water was left in the system boiling up

Could be a water feed to the turbo. if the reason for the overheating was a sudden lack of water something should leak out, fill it up and see where it leaks, If id does not leak when its cold warm it up and keep an eye on water level till you can find it.

Check that the cooling fan is working

If you cant find any leaks you may need to do a compression test to check head gaskets

But as has been said don't go driving it till you find what went wrong, I hope its something simple, good luck

On the right of the pic is the turbo rad take off the rad cap as shown, (its on the left side of rad in pic as thats a rear view) but on right hand side of rad when looking at the rad in the car and fill with water, this will take some time. When the rad is full you will have to start the engine to get the water into the block the water in the rad will go down so you will need to keep topping it up for a while, by this time you should be able to see a leak. Good luck

Found it!So i fill it with Water Yes???

Start the car up with the cap off and slowly add water until it wont take anymore then fit the cap and put the heaters on and make sure you have hot air. then let it run for ten mins and shut it off! then return to it after about 20 mins and re-check the water. top it up and go for a drive and keep checking the heaters and temp. When you get back check the floor for leaks etc and leave the car for a good half an hour then re-check the water level.
