I've just removed my front wings and bumper to replace with viper wings and a strosek front bumper. Just about every bolt sheared or rounded due to rust so i had to cut them of with an angle grinder (very messy) what i want to know is what do i need to salvage from the old bumper (if anything) to use when fitting the new Strosek bumper. Please remember that a lot of bits were so badly rotted they are unrecognisable so any new bits that you think i might need let me know.

Yes i looked at that but apart from the bumper re-enforcer what else do i need to keep. The side brackets are totally wasted but do i need them for the Strosek, i know i won't need the under tray as the bumper is very deep.

Cheers for that though Carl.

I've never had the strosek bumper but i would imagine it would bolt to the original mountings so i would say you proberbly do need the side brackets otherwise there is nothing to bolt the side of the bumper on. Unless you can find an alternative way of bolting it on your proberbly going to have to make some brackets up i would guess

Cheers Carl, the side brackets were so bad they just fell apart so i don't know what they should look like to make some. Will try some of the guys who are breaking cars and see if anyone has any decent brackets but they will probably be just as bad as mine were i think.

Cheers Carl much appreciated.

Nothing mate!-the wifes had the Strosek F/Glass,just bolts on the side and front!

If it's a Ploy bumper then different kettle of fish,HTH!

where the wing joins the bomper there is some steel strips i still used these right where the wheels are, is the bumper fiberglass, caerfull when tightening as it will crack try to use most of the bits from your old bumper or get some new ones from someone on the forum.

Thanks guys, it is a fibreglass bumper. I have already posted in the wanted section for the side brackets. I thought i would have to re-use the upper bumper bracket that attaches underneath the headlight pannel but i don't think it will allow the bumper to sit properly, it also causes the headlight panel to sag slightly if i don't fit it.

I also noticed from your pics Manta that you did not re-fit the bumper re-enforcer, let me know if this is correct as a few of the bolts sheared on mine and this would save me drilling and re-tapping.

Cheers.

Now that I don't know mate as the car came like that, probably the reinforcer doesn't fit with the strosek? ;)
