I noticed today that I have a loose wire hanging down behind the front bumper on the drivers side of the car.... This used to be attached to a small black electrical box thingy that was in turn attached to the plastic protector / cover coming under the car from the wheel arch. Does anyone know what it is and what it does plz ? ( The black box has been ripped off and gone :-( )

Thanks in advance (again).

outside temp sensor? its located under the bumper and is a small rectangular type black box.

Cheers. Is this important mate ?

Why do I need a 'outside' temp sensor

You dont need it, as such - Its for displaying the outside temp on your Climate control display.

Not sure if it was this one, but I think they were removed on later models (or maybe it was the interior temp sensor?). I guess the external one would give you an idea of intake temperatures which would affect your power.

Got no display like that on mine . It's a 92 model, mate has a 93 and none on his either.

Then you have Series 2 onwards controls, which does not have it.

I did'nt think the S2 climate controls would have the Exernal Temp sensor....perhaps it requires it for the Climate control ECU.

Can anyone with a Series 2 car confirm if they have the External Temp sensor behind the front bumper ? It sits on the drivers side near the horn, about 2cm x 2cm, black with cable running of it.
