Remove the prop shaft and undo the gearbox support bracket then either jack or support the gearbox or just drop it down. Makes it easier to remove the engine, at least thats what i did.

Have you undone the torque convertor bolts.?

were are the torque converter bolts

also were do you you slacken the propsahft :headvswal

dont need to remove the prop, pointless! not digin at you bigsss, just not required ;)

once the torque convertor is removed it will pull apart!

use the online manual in the links at the top right hand corner of the website, you will find what you need

good link there from that man

also if your removing the aircon pump, remove the awkward bolt when the engine is lifted up slightly you dont need to struggle like they do. Crows foot bloody yanks LMAO

I was changing the box anyway (with your old autobox) so had to remove it.

Still have not driven the car yet lol.

If he can''t see the torque convertor it would seem that not all the bolts have been removed from the gearbox as when he was trying to lift it then the engine and box should have slpit?

true, like you say its either a bolt left in, or the torque convertor is bolted up! but still the engine will split with torque convertor its just fiddly and difficult to pull apart and the mess it makes :nelson: drank dextron iii a few times not good :mac1:

  come on sort it bud ;)

Its taken over my life lol. After getting the engine and box in i removed the plenum PAS pot and balance bar for polish and chrome, then i bought viper front wings then strosek front and rear bumpers then found out the rear is for a wide arch so thats the next purchase. And i've been making a SS one piece slam panel and i've been done for no tax, insurance or MOT all this and i haven't sat my ass in it yet. lol

Anyway back on topic. :headvswal

If all the bolts are out of the bell housing when you seperate the engine from the box inside you will see the torque convertor, there are 4 14mm bolts that have to be undone this will allow you to get the clearance you need to remove the engine.

You will have to rotate the torque convertor and undo them one by one (the torque convertor looks like a big metal dome but you will probably only have an inch or 2 gap between the engine and box), like Greg says its fiddely but once you have the four bolts removed it should come apart. Look at the second link i posted for pics.

PUSH HARDER LIKE A SQUARE PEG IN A ROUND HOLE! ;)

Small 3/8" ratchet and 14mm socket ideally get someone to hold a bar and 27mm socket on the crank sprocket and lock it off so engine does not rotate, or multi task with bar and ratchet and turn at all 4 points until each bolt is removed

hi there can you get to them if i took the starter off the side of the box or does it have to be thru the gap in the box at the bottom after engine is lifted slightly thanks lee i have a gap at the bottom of the box but its the top that is stuck lee :hyper:
