Just noticed when Im accelerating hard, my temp gauge drops to cold.

IS this just likely to be a bad connection from sender to gauge or could it be a reason why my car doesnt seem to be running properly.

Featured Replies

Could be a bad connection on the sender or maybe just your coolant is low?

If its the stock gauge they are shit and unpredictable at the best of times, sometimes mine only goes quater way up sometimes just under half way up

might just be the sensor, check the connector on top of the waterpipe, small black one next to yellow connector, it may be on boost its moving slightly causing a bad connection, try cleaning it aswell

does the needle go down gradually ...kind of in tandem with you accelerating ..i.e the higher the revs go ( when driving ) the lower the needle starts to sink...and as soon as you stop accelerating it starts to rise again ?

cold it be the oil cooler openning up. I know it only open at a certain amount of revs?

no

Common issue - as you accelerate the engine movement cause poor connetion with the loose temp sender connector.

just posting video in pics/video section..

Jay,

have you done any work on the gauge cluster ? I had exactly the same problem when swapping my gauge cluster over from US to European (German) spec ..I´m not sure though what exactly caused that problem as i ended up having to swap so much over including the rear curcuit board...but the problem seems identical..I thought at the time it was an earth problem on the guage / cluster itself.
