Me and the wife had had a right mess about from the Tax office and Child Benefits office. Firstly they had her business on there records 4 times and it to 47 phone calls for them to sort out over 9 months. Then they messed up our tax credits, by increading by 3 times its normal amount due to us getting childcare allowance (which we dont claim) so another 10 calls arguing with them that they are paying too much, finally get it sorted. Now went into the joint account to check balances and they have paid us £800 for no reason. I know it would be nice to have this money but man they are so dim and it takes ages of our time to sort their incompitance.

lmfao. they have done this with 1000s mate. you will probably get a letter 12 months down the line saying you owe them money. they could not organise an egg & spoon race without fooking it up. total timewasters, not got a clue what they are doing, and im not sure if most of them are from this planet.

thinking of sticking it in a high interest account untill they want it back.

Bloody good idea ;) And then when they ask for it back, tell them you are required to give a months notice to withdraw the money from your high interest account, so they'll have to wait

go down and with bank statements, and ask them to sort it out YOU MUST ASK FOR A LETTER AND RECIEPT OF CONFIRMATION OF YOUR VISIT, leave it for a month and if it is still there it is your's, and if thye say you were not entilted to it, just play ignorent and show them the letter and reciept of confirmation of notification of monies overpayed and there is shite all the can do

decided to stick it in a high interest account, if after a year they dont ask for it back, will give it to charity.

always make sure you can get it back out of a high interest account, if you cant you will have to find it from somewhere else if they want it back

form TC846 is your friend ;)...the tax credit overpayment appeal form...tell them you acted in good faith and any mistake on their part means you shouldnt be expected to pay back any overpayments as they had the correct info which you supplied and they acknowledged...in other words its maladministration

find the form here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/menus/tax_credits.htm

cheers
