Whilst changing the waterpump cause of a leak, more disapointment, I have discovered that the bearings have gone in the alternator and also the power steering pump. Also I can pull the front of the power steering pump out so fluid leaks every where is this normal? Has anyone got either parts in working order for sale. It is a jap car so I think the alternator is different size to UK, is this correct?

There are two types of alternators that fit the TT.

The Mitsubitshi A3T05192 or the Hitachi LR180-724.

I'd recommend the Mitsubitshi one since it's more powerfull then the hitachi.

There's also a 'clone' of the LR180-724 that'll fit with some slight adjustments.

(Call an alternator-expert to find out about this one)

It's about half the price and also more powerfull then the Hitachi.

Hope this helps..

Oh..I forgot..

If it's just the bearings that are gone in the alt, then you can have just the bearings replaced also (probably the cheapest option)

I actually should have said that these alternators will fit ALL z32's (NA/TT, 2+0/2+2/ J-spec's, Uk-spec's, etc)

Not just the TT.

Whilst on the subject of alternators...

Is it possible to put a 'higher power' (higher than the stock unit) alternator on a Z for those with too many gizmo's ;-).

Has anyone done this (Bob?) and what are the details.

Apparently in the US there's a company that makes high-power alternators for the Z32.

I'm not sure if something similar exists overhere also.
