Bri on Monday I was about 90% sure that I was going to buy a Range Rover sport to replace the Warrier but my mate who has one said he has a list of problems that all need sorting under warrenty and its only done 12k miles:( I dont mind paying 40k if its as reliable as my Mitsi but I really cant be arsed with trailing in and out the dealers to sort problem after problem. I have never had a Range Rover how do you find them?

I've always been into off-roading, lots of places to go growing up in California.

Started with the baja bug, then modified a couple of mini trucks. Maybe that's why I like the 19" wheels on my Z! How do you like the reg on the black mini truck? Rented the Land Cruiser monster truck recently in Iceland, was an absolute blast, although I did scare the wife a bit!

In the market for a series 3 Land Rover at the moment but unfortunately I don't know that much about them so doing a fair bit of research before I put my hard earned down...!

I've briefly had a 200tdi disco, but I do love Range rovers considering a Mk2/P28 Range Rover for daily driver with the Bmw 2.5tdi engine.

Paul@swz is mad on his landys, has about a dozen (seriously!) of them - 200tdi's, 300tdis, mk1/Classic Range rovers, Mk2/P38 Range rovers. He also has a V8 Bobtail, jacked up suspension, diff gaurds, TVR camshafts, Harnesses, fuel tank in boot....its an animal, lots of fun.

My mate's got one and it put me off to be honest. Suspension/ alignment problems saw it in the main dealer for almost 2 weeks (this was when it was only 1 yr old), it's god-awful slow in V6 form, and there's basically not really anything sporty about it!

Seems like it full of gimmicks (voice command - amusing for about 10 seconds) and electronics which you just know will go wrong and cause nightmares (suspension).

That said, they do look ****in cool!

i would personally stay away from the rovers with the bmw engines. the 2.5 diesel bmw engine found in range rovers can knock out crankshafts for breakfast and the freelander tdi's are more trouble then there worth. if its near 100k miles which most are now the injectors can seize into the block. causing you to have to buy a new engine. ( i am speaking from experience!)

we tried for 3 weeks to try and remove the injector without success. cost nearly £1000 for an engine from a breaker only for it to arrive and find it was a complete dog..

a guy i know manages a land rover service dept...he says never touch a P38....unless you have stacks of cash to burn they are the worst ever RR period...hence why they are on lots of forecourts for fook all money

if you can finch one :)

as far as these "classic rovers" are concerned Ian ive had a good few and i love em,a late vouge just before the p38 change over and you cant go wrong,v8 rover engines from 3.5 to 4.6,the chassis and drive-train are landrover based for simplicity and a nice bit of good old leather on the inside. would not buy the p38 unless it was for silly money and would not buy any diesel as they turn these cars into tractors, go petrol and get the lpg fitted ;) iff your thinking of getting one of the new landys then i know pretty much nothing as ive not even considerd spending that sort of wonga on a car as the last shipment of columbia,s finest turned out to be ajax :D

i dont mind range rovers/land rovers but always plagued with small niggly problems, mainly electrics! windows not working/wipers/heating,suspension, that aside they great when running well, and are comfortable with the kids in etc
