At costco?

Just thought I would let everyone know :)

ive allways found this to be a bit thin for 1980,s tollerances on a zed, others might disagree ;)

40 is the weight fully warmed up, so it is the same viscosity as recommended, but if your tappets are noisy it could make them sound slightly noisier!

Mobil 1 is a bit thin for our old machine.Costco also do Castrol Magnatex at the right viscosity for about £24 for 2 lots of 4 litres.

been using Mobil for years in mine without any problem. mine is Synt S, a fully synthetic 5W40 :)

Just had a look and Magnatec is the same viscosity warmed up as mobil1, also would not even use magnatec on my pushbike it is a piss poor oil!

Most oils come in a range of viscosity. Mobile 1 ranges from 0 30 to 15 50.

Castrol Magnitech also comes in different flavours from 0 40 to 20 50.

If I use Mobile 1 I use either 15 40 or 15 50. Using Millers 15 60 at the moment and very pleased with it.

I wouldn't run a car with uprated turbos on a semi oil as they break down quicker under high temps.

Mobil 1 is no longer the same oil as it used to be (when it was actually Mobil, Mobil was taken over by Exxon), it is no longer a genuine fully synth. I e-mailed Exxon about it, I asked if it was true it had been downgraded, or if it was still the same oil (the same technical specification) as it was before they bought out Mobil, and they REFUSED to say it was still a fully synthetic (as defined when Mobil 1 first came onto the market), and REFUSED to say it was the same quality and specification. They completely avoided my very specific questions, and just waffled on about it being suitable for my car! They have downgraded Mobil 1 oil, but still charge the same prices for it in ordinary outlets. I used to swear by it, but now use Motul 300V Power 5W40 motorsport fully synth oil, definitely a genuine ester based fully synth motor oil.

Very interesting, wonder what the oilman has to say about this?

That is strange as I stopped using Mobil 1 last year because it seemed go through the PCV's after every serious highspeed righthander which it never used to do. The PCV's were brand new and it never used to happen. Since I've gone to Millers fully synthetic 10 50 or 15 60 it doesn't happen.

The sxoc paid for a private oil analysis on their cars, it came up with some interesting results, but I believe it was before mobil changed their formula!
