Got problem lads with a 90 non turbo fairlady z, its when the air con is on its seems to be drawing too much power or something similar as when you push the clutch in at junctions etc the revs drop down really low to cutting out point, but if you turn the aircon off all is ok.

Your advice is most appreciated.

FICD solenoid aint working then (fast idle control device). You can see where this is here.

The grey plug on it is the one for FICD, i'm not that clued up on these, but I guess cleaning out the connector, and the valve unit itself, cannot do any harm..

As part of the AAC valve illustrated above you will find a black plastic adjustment screw in it. If you take this completly out on the end of it you will find a small filter. Give it a good clean and then re-fit. Once you have done this take the electrical plug off the top and apply some WD-40 to the terminals and re-fit. This should solve the problem.

 

It is a more than common fault upon all Nissans for some reason over looked by most garages upon servicing.
