Hi,

Just thought I'd pass this on. I bought an electric 2 ton scissor jack off ebay and to my supprise I'm quite impressed with it. It'll fit under a 12cm sill so is no problem for a standard Z. I still haven't got my Z back so can't say if it'll get under a lowered Z but I'm hoping it'll get under the front of the car. It rises to 35cm so had a side up in the air no probs (both wheels). Takes just over a minute to get from min to max and is remote control which is pretty cool :hyper:

I've asked if they can get any more if anyone is intrested :)

How much are they mate, Maplins do 1 of these and I was thinking about fitting 1 on each corner permanently, not only for wheel changing but would help flumox the car thief, if its off the floor (say just 1/4 inch) it cant be driven away! leave the handbrake off and wheel locks on and the wheels are hard to nick as well. dont know how possible it would be to fit em though

That's where I saw them first ;)

It cost £52 inc carriage but that came with one of those electric impact wrenches too. Seems good value :)

Vijay

lol you wouldnt catch me putting my head under there with an ebay electric jack holding it up!

I wouldn't put my head under there with any jack but it's an easy way of getting it up on stands :)

You never depend on any jack to support the weight only stands

1 ton would probably be ok, but of course would be better to have 2ton, as you jack the car up the weight is going onto the lower part of the car. What you have to watch for is if you have one end on stands and are trying to lift the lower end which of course, could be greater than one ton!

Vijay do these come with connectors to attach to the battery as well as the cigarette lighter?

We will have to arrange a meet soon :)

How high does this jack go?

  • Author

Thet do indeed mate, they can go into the lighter or it has clips for the battery :) Rasied height is 35cm :)

When I finally get my Z back will deffo meet up ;) and by the way, that other jack is the nuts so I'm glad you didn't have it!! lol

if anyone has a lowered Z, can you measure the sill gap?

  • Author

lol, lazy? me? Yeah you're right! lol Seriously though, the reason I got it was cos I hoped it would get under the crossmember of my Z which without a long reach jack is an effort :(

You've got a point there :)

I have a big trolley jack and although it fits under, the cross member is so far back that the handle touches under the bumper and I can't lift it to jack it up!

I have to use the scissor jack under the sill first to raise it up.

well I think if it's only a couple of people, it'll be the normal price :(

got a reply:

Hi Vijay,

Thanks for your message.

The best price I can do for 5 is 35.00 and 12.00 postage each. Please advise if the delivery of the Jacks would be to one address, if so then maybe I would be able to do something on the courier charge.

Please advise.

Thanks for your interest

Best Rgds

Alex
