just like I loved the car :D

Must have been a nice little run a round then mate? There are some credible little motors around but they just get slagged off because they are so small.

:smash:

Sorry Greg. LOL. But there is a similar green beit a bit darker on the MG ZT range and it looks quite nice. Its a bit more powdery on the little one but as I siad ..similar.

They are awesome and corner so well for such a large car, but sadly the old metal moth is such a problem and of course it would have to be a straight six and not the V8 version because of the Nicosil problem.

I`ve been passing the time looking at XJR 6-cylinders around £3000 and upward on The Autotrader site . That`s exactly the way I ended up with this car...and the one before that :mac1: I`ve had Jags before , but never a supercharged XJR . Has anyone else driven one ? Any other thoughts on them ? BTW , Old Zed , what does the Nicosil problem mean ?

Cheers

""The time has come to sell my s13 to move onto newer things, been toying with the idea for the last year and finally brought myself to sell it as i don't really use the car much, only use it for work about once or twice a week and then a few shows a year.

Right its a 92 s13 with 110,000 miles on the clock, 6 months tax, and from memory theres about 6 months left on the MOT. CA18DET had a rebuild in November 05 with new big ends, oil pump, valves, stem seals, Wisco 1mm over sized forged pistons, new thermostat, new rad, new tubby (T28) I replaced the water pump 4 months ago. Pretty much replaced everything on the car, running at stage 2.

Custom exhaust HKS downpipe, decatpipe, 5in backbox, its about 2 1/4in straight through.

T28 turbo, Walbro fuel pump, stage 2 chip from Jez, K&N filter, after market intercooler, hardpipes, silicone hoses, oilcatch tank,

Spax adjustable shocks with lowering springs, HKS camber adjusters, new rear pads with new Brembo discs, front grooved Brembo discs. 17in alloys with 1000 mile old tyres 215/45 on front and 235/45 on rear.

Ive stripped most of the interior out of the rear and fitted Cobra bucket seats

Turbos running 1 bar of boost through an Apexi AVCR also has boost and oil pressure gauges, Apexi turbo timer I think thats everything.

At a recent rr day at AP motors it made 300.1 bhp i love driving it, the cars been a good project over the last few years i think im going to move onto an s14a.Its in very good condition for the age of the car. If i can't get what i want for it i may break he car up for parts. Im open to offers but im looking for about £3000.

I also have loads of parts for sale, T25 bearings feel good and it didn't smoke when i took it off the car £40. Saab FMIC with loads of piping £30. Adjustable T28 actuatior £35. and a few head light units. also have 30mm wheel spacers £80

Ill be at JAE this year camping with the ultimate jap car boys ill also be on there stand. Cheers Iain 07920062575""

something to do with the block, same with some of the bmw e36 325/328s

block linings to thin IIRC

Nikasil issues affected cars with the M52 inline 6 and M60 V8 engines. This includes E34, e36, e32, e38, e46 and e39 models.

BMW used Nikasil, an aluminium, nickel, and silicon alloy, to line the cylinders of the M60 engines. The cross-hatched Nikasil linings react with the high sulfur content found in lower-quality gasoline, such as that used in parts of the United States. This reaction causes damage to the very top of the cylinder bore, where there is the most contact of the burning mixture and the cylinder lining. The damage prevents a good seal from forming between the piston and the cylinder wall, causing a loss of compression in the combustion chamber. This "leak down" will cause M60s with worn linings to exhibit a rough idle, and if the problem continues unchecked, the engine will not start.

M52 was never affected in the US because they had cast liners, was fixed in '98 over here. Don't know when the V8's were updated, but they were, and got 'Alusil' liners instead.
