June 18, 200223 yr How do you drive your auto in a drag race?Is there a certain technic or you just select D and floor it?
June 18, 200223 yr To get the best out of an Auto you must 'load' the torque converter. Drive upto the line put her in 'D' with the o/d in the off position, plant your foot firmly on the brake pedal, wait about 2 secs before the off, with your foot firmly on that brake rev to 2500 and let go of the brake and then gently push the accelerator to the floor over the next 2-3 secs. My Auto Twin Turbo Soarer (370hp) will do 12.2/12.3/12.4's with out much hassle doing this.
June 18, 200223 yr you never answered if you had timeslips for those 1/4 you claimed, and if you had done it at santapod lol. so have you or are those projected figures?
June 18, 200223 yr I used to try going to 2500rpm at santa pod and gave up as I would just sit on the line spinning my wheels on their glue crap. Now I set the auto switch to Power, OD is OFF, EVC is on high and the scramble is set as soon as both cars are set. I hold on the brake and go to 1500rpm and then release wait a second to get the traction and then plant the accelerator slowly to the floor over the first 60ft (first obvious timing light boxes at the pod. Unfortunately I am still spinning my wheels past 60ft. Really not sure that loading the TC on a 300TT is the right way to do it. But I suppose a 13.422s at 110mph is not too bad (oh this was at santa pod and yes I have a slip). My best was a 13.12s at 111mph at Elvington airfield at a top speed run. My 2p's worth and only IMHO. ------------------ "Polished on drive" "Dirty at 156mph" --------------- Z first and anything else is secondary and live life a quarter mile at a time!
