I've had an idea for those who would like to learn to Drift? The Drifting Academy Drift do day courses and i believe you can take your own car as the zed fits all the spec they need. If there is enough interest i will find out more info :D

That would be a good idea Sarah do the Eurodrift guys have a Drift school too, i didnt think they did?

i pretty sure they do, or one of their associates do as they are offering discounts to club members, anyways no harm in looking into it!! nothing ventured and all that!!

I was also thinking if it was a success we could hold our own Annual 300zx club Drifting event, great idea for a club comp i think?

so

£200 for teh course,

£50-100 for gas

£300 for tyres.

then theres fixing the car. just to do wheelspins.

each their own I supose.

on the other side, how much is it to use their cars then?

£299 to use their cars but might get that at a discount to if enough of us?

Tyres can be bought cheap as part worn just for the event if anyone so wished.

Why is your glass always half empty  Its a fun day out and a chance to put the car through its paces and learn a driving skill

well see how many up for challenge start a list and no harm in doing some negotiating on price, if numbers are large, they will oblige im sure

well this is the reply i got

We’d need at least 15 people to give any form of discount. We could offer 10% discount for 15 bookings and larger discounts for 20 or more.

It wouldn’t matter if you were using our cars or your own. We would also need advance payment for all the places before we could confirm the day with you. This is because we have to pay up front for use of the venue so we can’t afford to take deposits or preliminary bookings in case of drop-outs.

Let me know if you have any further questions

Regards

John

I was talking to Shunter about this last week. I have been looking in to hiring two drift tracks for the day. it would be using your own cars but they will provide tuition.

The price for this would be either £125 per person for the day Need 30people for that, but i'm looking in to hiring the tracks and sorting insurance which would be much cheaper. I have spoken to Tim from Banzai and i need to talk to chris re trying to sort it all out.

i'm up for using theirs, depends where and when.

What are you meant to get from the day? i mean like by the end of it are you meant to be able to drift?

well if we can have an idea of numbers i can then approach Terry that owns Drift Uk and see what figures he can come up with!

It might be worth contacting him first to see if he can do a discount and how many they need to give a discount, so everyone knows how much it will be and then start getting a list up of interested partys

well that sounds a reasonable price too

If you're learning to drift its a lot cheaper to use their cars, especially when your car is a zed. You'll go through your tyres, your clutch will be heavily worn, brakes will be worn (not as bad as a trackday I guess),etc. All your bushes, trackrods, shocks, springs etc will get heavily punished and these things are normally in poor state on a high milage zed anyway due to the weight of the car.

I don't mean to be half full as I love events like this, but just trying to be realistic for anyone who hasn't done a day like it before. Unless your car is set up for high performance driving and thrashabouts ie good suspension, brakes and cooling, it will hit your wallet very hard. Once you know the techniques then the punishment on the car is a lot less, but whilst learning the cars really get abused. Cars like 200sx are cheap and easy to replace all the bits that wear or break, hence why they are so popular for drifting. The Zed in high milage standard form isn't ideal for drifting. Much better to thrash their cars, learn the techniques, and then upgrade the Zed to a drifter with better cooling, tighter suspension, brakes, etc if you like it and feel commited, like Bubache has done.
