The 300zx is a true sports car, GTOs and Rx7s are sports cars. A Scooby is a saloon car same as the hot hatches but with more power, drive past in a Z and people will look, drive past in a Scooby and it’s just another saloon car.

I was thinking that :nono:

I really can't see you getting insured for that kind of money at your age, even if you have managed 3 years no claims

I did mine at 20, £1317 1 years NCB

But its only 3rd party fire and theft.... with swinton no less, well actually sabre.

Most Zeds are autos and are slow 0-20, but after that as quick as manuals IMO. I've had loads of burn ups with scoobys, it just depends what mods they've got, a good sti and there wont be anything in it. My Zed (auto swb) has basic mods - decat, filter, chip, 1 bar boost, and regularly holds its own with Ferraris and porkers. Last Sunday had a good burn with a DB9 which was fun, but a stock Zed would have been killed.

BTW, have you driven rear wheel drive before? If not take it easy :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of classic japanese sports cars. I have nothing more to add to the good advice that has already been given.

EXCEPT THIS:

Be bloody careful mate. You are talking about beating your mates in a race in a car that really needs to be treated with some respect or you will end up dead. We have seen too many people on here that have lost control and ended up in a ditch or wrapped around a tree because they thought they could handle the power with ease. I am not saying you are incapable just be careful we know these cars and you dont yet.

THE soundest advice yet........

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

i agree 1200 quid sounds cheap! ive got a jap import manual paying 800 quid a year and im 24. but true you the zed as pleanty of power and style compared to a common (ur a bus)

nope 1 years no claims on a jap import 300zx tt i phoned them up to see if it was for real and yes it is they reckon so the quote stays active for 30 days cheers 4 the help every1 been rele gud wot the petrol lyk on them full tank roughly??

full tank is about 50 to 55 quid, V power obviously, especially on a jap spec.

I get about 180 to 200 miles out of my auto TT around town, 250 to 270 on the motorway taking is easy at 70 to 80.

which is about 18mpg and 25mpg i think. So not good, but you dont buy one of these to drive economically!

iv had £70 in mine at that was a while ago, with 102.9 a litre at the local i dread to think how much it would cost to fill her up now :(
