I've seen one on ebay that looks as if it's an air filter  and it looks quite 'blingy' but can I use one on my '95 N/A?

It is just an air filter, and yes. I would avoid cheap ebay stuff though, Apexi ones are the best for zeds, Danny at DTA on here sells them for a good price.

as above mate, its really only a performance air filter, to allow more air. wouldnt go for a cheapo off fleabay mind. Go for an apexi or a blitz sus.

Dont Danny sell on Ebay? I thought he did the odd item on there?

LOL Dont do what i did.

I bought a Power Enterprise Impul filter off Mowgs through fleabay for £40.

Then bought a AEM EMS so i needed another one.£147.00

I wont be changing them in a hurry.LOL

This is the ebay one I was looking at

What do you think?

Or what about this from the US which includes ally pipes?

Glad of your opinions.

in my opinion its best to get one that will bolt through the bottom and splash guard, but different people different things. looks alright i spose, but to be honest your probably better of saving a few more pennies and get an apexi one round about £70 i think, or go for my choice which is the blitz sus, at a mear £135.

Word of caution: This is NOT a suitable filter for a Z32 as the bolt pattern on the back of the filter DOES NOT match the Z32 AFM. Trust me on this - I have made that mistake once before thinking and it cost a bit of money to get an adapter made up.

FYI - I do not (yet) sell bits on ebay but am looking into it for the future. Prices wouldn't be much different than if ordered through the forum though ...

I have one filter in stock so if you want to place an order please get in touch. It'll be £69 delivered.

But they do say they can supply an adaptor for £10 and £48 delivered total is a bit better for me than £69.

For the £48 that will cost you mate with postage and an adaptor I would spend the extra and go with Danny.

It might seem like your saving a few quid but 9/10times it comes back to bite you on these cars, at least with danny you have a yrs warrenty and is allways there if you need help/advice on it.

Just my 2pence and its up to you mate :)

I understand what you're saying but the £48 INCLUDES the adaptor AND delivery. Provided the filter is a good one I can't see the point of spending another £21! I can buy other things with that money (as I am doing at the moment from the large number of people currently breaking their Zed's on this site).

Thanks for your input and opinion though

does it not say its a universal adaptor, ifyou go with it double check that the adaptor you get is actually gonna be right for the z32. Like the fella's above say, in all honesty it is really better to pay the extra to get a good part that you know for a fact will be right. For me generally i try to steer clear from fleabay unless they are oem parts from another zed. Get the good part for piece of mind really, thats my opinion anyway.

all the best.

Dave - on a nice day take the car out for a run then renove the stock air filters and then take it out on the same run - and see if there's a noticeable difference to the performance. If there is then a free-flowing induction kit is the way to go. If there's isn't then you've saved even more money.

Of course if you knacker the airflow metre in the process (unlikly) then I appologise for the suggestion.

Good luck

Jack

Hi,

That's good advice Jack!

Unless you're fitting the filter as part of a package of changes then you won't notice any beneficial difference in performance on an NA.The car may sound louder in an adverse way though!

As a bit of bling it may look ok, but on a Z32 it's under the nose panel and can't really be seen anyway!

Cheerz,

Jez.

I can't (and won't) argue with that. However, I will say that if the included Z32 adapter is made from plastic then please be careful when you tighten the clips as I have seen these adapters split and break very easily.

At the end of the day the choice is yours. If you want to go down the ebay route and buy a kit which isn't specifically made to fit a Z32 then that's a risk you are willing to take. It could work out perfectly or it doesn't.

If you need me you know where to find me.

Dan

Thankyou for your tolerance, Dan.

Apologies Dave - I honestly didn't mean to sound self righteous, etc.

The truth of the matter is that I get about 4 phone calls a day from people who have seen a certain product on ebay for £xx. They then expect me to price match that price - which I can't. I then advise about the ebay product warranty issues, incorrect fitment issues, etc versus UK warranty, UK based support, correct fitment, etc if the item is bought though myself. Invariably it falls on deaf ears ... but at least the customer can make an informed decision.

Ebay has had a tremendous impact on my (and many others') businesses - and I mean that in a negative way. It has created a type of customer who expects to get the world but is not willing to pay for it. Invariably the customer has a problem with the product and then expects me to sort it out. I'm afraid that is not how it works. Please understand that this is in no way a reference to you, it is merely a generalisation which has caused me a lot of frustration.

I have to date chosen not to sell through ebay as (IMO) it cheapens the brands and creates a "bargain basement" mentality (if that makes any sense). Don't get me wrong - I personally buy through ebay all the time (not for business but privately) - and it is a good place to get bargains. But I am equally aware that a majority of items are (a) mis-advertised, (b) of inferior quality and © carry no UK warranty.

I simply can not compete with ebay prices.

So, in conclusion, I apologise if I sounded like a tw*t in my previous post - that wasn't my intention at all.

:)

Dave be careful with the adapter, There a two main types on the market,

one for cars with MAS, the adapter bolts onto the filter then slides into the air pipe to the throttle body.

The second is for cars with MAF, the adapter bolts onto the MAF and then the filter slides onto the adapter.

I believe that Apexi filter is the type that has the adapter bolted to it.

It might be best to ask the seller first before you buy.

Thanks for the advice..........but what is MAS and MAF?

I'm not really that up on MAS, but I believe it has a sensor attach to the plenum chamber, and measures atmospheric changes in the plenum.

MAF uses an air flow meter, so measures the amount of air passing through the meter.

Some of the EVO guys have their cars converted from MAF to MAS to get rid of the air flow meter. Although MAF is the more accurate way to read your cars air intake, thus set an air/fuel ratio.

I hope this helps.

In short if you going to fit a cone filter to your Z, you will need an adapter that bolts on to the air flow (MAF) meter.

buy an apexi of dan and be done with it, best filter on the market!
