I have neglected my exhaust a bit when it has come to cleaning my car. I sometimes wipe the sponge over it but it makes no difference to the exhaust pipe and makes the sponge really dirty.

 

I know there must be proper methods and proper product to clean and polish up the exhaust and just need a bit of guidance and recomendation from you guys.

I use it and its fantastic.

Autosol for me too.

Would also suggest one of these instead of the sponge for washing with. Sponges can cause swirl marks and trap grit. These are much better for getting into the small spaces too.

Autosol here as well! Five years on and the SS backboxes still come up looking shiny and new every time :)

This might be a daft question but, how is it used? Polish like you would paintwork but more aggressively or put on leave and rub off?

I brush it in with a tooth brush but it can also be applied with a cloth, Wait untill it dries which takes seconds then polish off with a cloth.

I find brasso does a fantastic job and cheap too.....

A good way to do the visible inside bits of the exhaust is to soak a bog brush in wonder wheels and poke it in and turn it, just like dislodging a stubborn turd. Sounds daft but it works.

just used my new Autosol for the first time and i must say it is fantastic. It removed the grime just like you see happening in those cheesey TV ads for cleaning products!

 

one question that might seem really daft but is it worth cleaning the inside surface of the exhaust too (obviously only the very end bit that you can get to) or is it completely pointless as it will grime up immediately and will have to absorb alot of crud in your cloth?
