Just fitted the new engine and it has an ebay unorthordox type crank pully on it. the stock fan/alternator belt is now the wrong size.

ย

to the people running these, what size belt are you using (should say on the belt)

ย

mechanic found one that fit but its old and squeeks like a mouse on crack!

It has no markings on it so cant tell the size. Got it fitted to get the car running, need to get the size without taking it off again to trace round it if possible.

I had an ebay one fitted and I couldnt stop the fooker squeeking. I tried loads of belts and it did no good. get rid of it mate.

Easy way is put some thing round the pulley's to get the length then you need to go to any half decent motorist shop, tell them its a 4pk ie 4 grooves and they will have belts with the length on get the closest one to the length you require, measure it with the adjuster backed off so you have room to tighten it up, should only take a couple of goes to get it right.

Or you could email who ever you got it from they usually have a list of part No's

Just a note.

The cheap crank pullys we have tried and tested can be fatal to your engines health. As most of them are not balanced to as high spec as the genuine unorthadox pullys they do not spin true. We have seen one which over time caused the cam belt to jump a tooth "3 occasions" and one which at high revs was so unbalanced, the tenioner collapsed. Like all critical engine parts, use high quality only. The unorthadox pullys sold by traders on here are very high spec and come with the correct high quality belts. Paying a little extra for better performance "lighter meterial" and peace of mind is well worth every penny.

Dave C is right - spend a little extra money and get yourself a high quality product! I am currently in talks with a company who will produce lightened pulleys in stock sizes and also an under drive crank pulley for those who really want it. They will be manufactured to the highest possible standard and will be cheaper than a set of Unorthodox pulleys. We are in the development stages at the moment so don't expect anything for a short while yet but these will be hitting the market in the next couple of months. Of course we will supply them with the necessary belts.
