i hear ya mate our lass is giving me grief big time too but knowing my luck i'd be one of those people that will end up on the news , cue trevor mcdonut " he was taken hostage by spanish nationalists at 4pm last night more in our special report at 9pm "

am really liking the idea of a sight seeing holiday, or a one with lots of activitie's rather than just pubs and clubs

ive only ever been abroad once. that was our honeymoon 15 years ago. its never bothered me as ive not been used to going abroad anyway. now the wife, shes been all over the bloody place as a youngster and still wants to go now. suppose its what youve been used to growing up.

just book one mate. you'll love it, but think what you want out of your holiday ie: loads to do or fook all to do. night life or quite life. I go to a place in Spain called salabrena up the road form maliga. in the months of jan to march time, it's on the coast so i have the sun and diving but ahour and half away there is the mountains of sierra navarda(sp) for the snow boarding, then back to the sleepy town for a beer and a nice meal out.

thats ounds a cool place mate mmmmmmmmmmm might have to give this more thought

I have to go overseas at least twice a year! Just can't stay in one place! Going overseas is one of the best things you can do. Well, travelling is anyway, I'm not talking about lads' pissup holidays here. Proper adventure holidays etc not package holidays etc.

yeah i suppose i should broaden my horizons see the world that sort of thing but trouble is you hear such stories and our lass doesnt help watching programmes about dodgy holidays then saying stuff like " mmmm that looks like a nice beach we should go there "

Make up your own holiday then. I never do the package thing, can't stand it. I always just book a flight only. Then do a bit of research as to what I'd like to go and where I want to be. Booked up my flight to California a few weeks ago. Not got any accomodation yet. Will probably stay in a few motels and possibly

I love the whole nomadic thing anyway and always do things last minute/spur of the moment. Probably going to take a drive into the California desert and into Arizona. Would like to drive through death valley this year. It's either that or do a road trip up to San Fransisco before going back down south to San Diego. Have a US 300zx meet to go to in Orange County (Laguna beach) as well.

So, if anything dodgy does happen on that basis, it makes it all the more interesting.

Had a few funny stories to tell about my trip out to India. That was an eye opener.

reminds me of the time i went to meyorka and met a family who were having there first holiday abroad. Cut a long story short 2 of them drowned. Remembery there is nothing wrong with Barry Island lol

spanish island you know the one I mean. And after your poor show of spelling last night i dont think you should criticize lol :x:

With Si on this one(not the spelling) but just book and go. I do spain as I have a friend who lives there and we do some stupid diving when we get together 80metre stuff, and ski holidays i always book, but everything else get on a plane and go normally works out cheaper too

Yup, there's so much more to do than just going with a holiday company and staying at hotel immune from the real country. It's nice if you just want a beach holiday, but I like to get deeper into the country and get to know the people and their surroundings. Managed to do that really well last year and made some good friends in San Diego.

death valley, one of the most awsome places on the planet

Where are you? Afghanistan hills near the boarder with Iraq or something?

TBH, I'd love to go to North Korea. Have actually been looking into it. Very very strange trip that would be, but it's a place I'm fascinated with.

No every bodys favourite holiday spot TURKEY

I am however close to the Iraq/Iran border but its the PKK who are giving the trouble.

Time to phone the office to get me out me thinks

PKK...is that the Kurdish terrorist group?

The very same.

For the last week they have been shooting up at our camp, testing the defences.

Well yesterday they went a step further and mined one off the army patrol routes.

During the day its all quite and we only have a heavily armed private security firm doing the rounds. But at night the army comes in and takes over the watch towers with their infrered gear.Thats when all the fun starts.

Ah well 3 weeks off and back to safe Spain :duffer: :duffer:
