Had some Master come round earlier and I've decided to take up Karate! :eek:

 

Go Kan Ryu - or GKR, is a style of Karate mixing features of Shotokan and Goju Ryu together into one style. The name roughly translates to "The Hard and Complete System of the Way of the Empty Hand".

i did shotakan for 14 years under Billy Higgins, Also been taught by bob pointon, Andy Sherry, Terry O'niel ect.

Its nothing scary, its enjoyable but not fun as such... I have been out of it for several years now but keep threatening to go back. But I havnt the fitness to go back as my grade.

just read your last post, I could never control my temper even during my peak.

I stopped when my friend killed someone in a comp several years ago, it tends to put you off the comps after that it just dwindled.

my wife is a 2nd dan at tae-kwon-do she came 2nd in the uk champs and her brother one his catagory, her dads a 3rd dan and her brother a 1st dan. obviously i can kick all their arses lol

Its a shame coz he was an up and coming world champion we started together but he was just awsum, I was pretty good but theres good and then there was this guy.

quality S-Tune always fancied that. It was originates from the rice pickers, who had to defend themselves from the Samari on horses. That is why it's mostly high kicks.

funniest think was, in the early years of dating my now wife i asked her to show me a round house kick, she was wearing socks on the kictchen tiled floor, span round and went a cropper. still makes me laugh now

yeh but if you get in close they are fooked lol as they cant kick

I was in manchester train station stuck there all night with my date who did kick boxing and me being a show off (pissed) tried to do one and slipped and landed on my side bruised all my elbow, and bangged my head on the marble floor. lol she was impressed

good think about tae-kwon-do it makes your very supple ;)

:rofl: :rofl: i used to do the same to lamp posts after watchin "enter the dragon" after coming out the flicks

s-tune you get taught that if they are right in your face you either but them then move back into position or spit in their face and while their wiping there face which is a reflex then blah blah blah you get the gist. All about distance, I you know you are going to have trouble you always stay just out of there arms reach. That way they can never hit you.

I cant wait to go home in september and give my brother a good what for....
