still got the oil leak and the flat spot on acceleration .. where does it end ..

waterpump should of been done along with cambelt as its in the same area

needs stripping down on the front

cam covers

anc belts

waterpipes

crank pulley

lower cover

waterpump.

normally you change the waterpump, along with thermostat, tensioner, idlers and cambelt as a precaution, otherwise this happens. I would seriously ask why it cost £1700 ? what for ?

and if there was no leak before it went in for the cambelt then all of a sudden there is, i would try and get them to cough up for it!

Water pump replacement is pretty much same labour as cambelt unforts. Do they really know what they're doing?

Only people who know Z's will recommend replacing the WP at the same time greg. Getting them to cough up will be pretty much impossible! Its not their fault its gone lol

no but its coincidental that the pump fails a few days after they fit a camblet

perhaps one of the waterpipes have not been sealed properly when it was put back together, might be easy££ to say waterpump has failed, as lets face it most water leaks are either waterpipe housing or x2 rubber hoses at front

I have just done my cam belt and pump, took me about 1 hour to get to the pump. hope this helps. Good luck.

Good point actually, bet its just that they didn't replace the 2 hoses (they always tear as they come off) and therefore they're now leaking!!!

When i did my 60k service i made the mistake of not replacing the waterpump , partly to save a few pennies and partly because there did'nt seem anything wrong with it, (no leaks, smooth action, no bearing play, ect) everything was fine until a couple of days after i finished the service and it started leaking, i guess it's the fact that it was disturbed and possibly spun by hand the opposite way to which it normally runs when i checked it. Either way your symptoms sound the same as mine, so i would'nt rule out the pump.

Ha ha, same happened to me. Perhaps its the pressure coming off the pump when you remove the belts. The bearing relaxes or moves a fraction upsetting the seal ??? Dunno but quite coincidental.
