Had this prob last year and seemed to go away on its own!

But now its back...checked fluid levels and all ok so what else would cause this?

Thanks guys will have a look about.

Steering stays the same does not get heavy!!

May be a faulty steering sensor behind the steering wheel

Non HICAS compatible steering boss, loss of speed signal from speedo cluster or misaligned steering wheel can cause this. Does it come on straight away or after driving for 10 mins or so?

Mine comes on after 10 mins or so. I know why though. I havent got the Hicas Boss on.

Did you ever remedy the problem? Just interested to know of any outcome.

No not really Si!

It comes on now and then really when it wants to!

Does it more at high speed ...then will go off all on its own:confused:strange

Why have you got the same gremlin?

Dave

Sure have. Aligned my steering wheel sensor, had all the geometry set. It still carries on as it did before. Occasionally, it'll be fine. But more often than not, as I gradually go over 60kph, the steering wheel will turn to the left so that it's offset by about 1/8th of a turn. As I reduce speed, it turns back to dead ahead. After about 10mins of +60kph driving, the HICAS light will come on as the system eventually detects a fault and deactivates and the steering wheel will go back to dead ahead.

Maybe I have a faulty steering wheel sensor because, the geometry checks out, the sensor/boss is in the correct position and the fluid level is spot on.

But like I said, very occasionally and it's only happened a small handful of times, will it be fine and I'll not have the steering issue, but the light will still come on after about 10mins of 60kph+ of driving.
