Targa roof is leaking :(

Car is still under dealer warranty, where can I get the problem sorted (Derby area) and roughly how much will it cost?

Oh easy solution then. Was hoping to rack up a nice bill for the dealer to sort out :)

Cheers buddy

Rub some peanut oil on the rubber seals, that should cure the problem.

lol i thought you were kidding i read it as, rub some peanut butter on the rubber seals. :headvswal :D

leaky targas are fairly common with Zs i should know :(

another thing to check is the little drainage hole near the top of the A-pillar beneath the targa as this sometimes gets blocked up with muck.

failing those, replacement rubbers are available from here for a touch over £20 the pair.

Does it need to be peanut oil, how about olive oil or seasseme seed oil all out peanut oil :duffer:

?????????????????????????

Mine used to leak.....right in at the corner of the door/pillar/roof.....

....

....

Packed it out with BluTack in slim strips..........stopped the water coming in and still let the roof come off and on.

Or there is a thread somewhere that says about tightening the window glass but I can't find it. Sure someone knows where it is.

The other method is Vasaline......due to the petrol in the jelly, it expands the rubber....

....

....

another tip from bigmincey.

quality

were do you lot get these from lol peanut oil, blue tack? suppose if it works.

penny saved.....another penny earned for your next pint...or drop of petty whichever is your tipple

i think it was Slick Pete, although im sure i purchased them with something else. either way replacing them didnt cure my leak at the time, I had to use rubber sealant which worked for 6 months, then failed again :headvswal

I had the BluTak on my car for about 7 months......

Benefits........(as opposed to my first idea of just no-nailing the things in)

It isn't a permanent adhesive,

It moulds into any shape and stops water penetrating through it.

If you get it in the wrong place you can move it or add some more.

Once the roof seals it can't be seen as it is squeezed in between the joints.

Downside......

It isn't as pretty when you take the roof off....some of the blutak will be attached to the cars rubber. - I wonder if there is a blactak??

Don't know if it does any long term damage.

Like I said it was either that or no-nails or even better silly coning the whole outside with a nice 4mm beading!!
