Its ok James but whats the latest on the proper car?

That's right - Later (E39) 530 and above are all V8.

You'll have to let us know how it pans out James, just the motor I'll be looking for in the not-too-distant to replace me 'ol 525.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the damage?

CheerZ,

JB.

Apologies, I was thinking of the earlier version. Anyway, nice car, I've got a soft spot for the 5 series.

thanks guys. It's a 98 S,140k on the clock, Full bmw service history, new auto box last year, leather, dvd based sat nav from a x5 and all the other toys. Very nice to drive, impressed with the autobox but had to replace the battery today as it wasn't keeping the charge so that makes it £3800 with the cost of the new battery :)

I know it's an old thread but I thought I'd reaply here anyway.

Just picked up a late 99 523i se with m5 wheels. 90k on the clock with FSH and tax MOT for another 11 months.

Looks like the 300 + 5 series is becoming a trend :)
