Recommended Posts

Hi, I am fitting an electric engine cooling fan and can get a preset thermostat, but I dont know what temp to ask for. So what is the normal running temp of our engines. TT.

well my motor sits at 75-85 cent depending on weather, ive seen it at 90 when ive had a few high speed runs on full boost. hth ;)

Electric fan should kick in around 85 degrees, I think the standard sub fan kicks in at around the high 90's if not a 100 when it senses overheating and average temp is 80 degrees, certainly mine in summer is between 76 and 80 and in winter between 72 and 76ish.

Don't forget idea is the fan only kicks in when temps are higher than normal but not abnormally high :)

Thanks. :-)...just read the instructions and it says the stat should be fitted to the block and not ideal for hose fitting...

So, I know in theory this is the same temp but is it? what do you think, should I go for a more usual hose sensing type?
