hi all, can i have a little info about turbo boost please, I am fairly new to all this, (gimmie dellorto carbs and i am in my element) I am talking to a guy about how to refurb my turbos and he reccomends a 360 bearing for anything over 10psi?? my car (when i get it on the road) will be pretty much stock and is a UK auto, but might consider playing with it in the future. the bearings add another £50 each onto the price and i have no idea what they do? can anyone gimmie a clue? how much boost do the tubs give? how do you increase it? oh and is it worth altering the chip in the ecu, or is the stock one good enough!! Sorry again for my ignorance but i am learning (i think!!)

Standard tubs can cope with about 16 or 17PSi of boost before they become inefficient and they don't have 360 degree bearings. If you're not intending on doing anything more than fitting 1mm boost jets and a new a chip, then standard recon turbos will cope fine.

BUT, if you have the option to upgrade to 360 degree bearings for only £100 the pair, then do it! It's peanuts!

I wouldn't run stock turbos any more than 14psi (9psi is standard). To do this you will need a boost controller or boost jets to increase the boost and a chip/ECU remap to cope with the fueling. 360 degree bearings will make the turbos spool up quicker and are more durable so well worth it for £100
