Hello everyone,

I have some Greddy TD05 16G turbos which have basically just sat around doing nothing. They were reconditioned by nend and have not been used since.

My engine is pretty standard, well worse than standard actually

What sort of mods should i make to actually get any use out of these turbos as im assuming they wouldn't be much use on a standard engine would they? I don't know

(Oh and this is assuming that i have a normal engine and not a crap one)

chip to remap ECU for the bigger injectors and run higher boost + electric boost controller

do they have internal or external wastegates, i would have thought extrernal so you'll need wastegates and different manifolds

you did buy them as part of a kit didnt you?? ie manifolds, wastegates etc?? if not then its going to be more expensive to get the rest of the kit than to buy a complete kit :(

if you do have the rest of the kit then as the others have said, built engine, min of 555's, ecu or ecu remap, intercoolers, rad, brakes, suspension, and no doubt a few more bits and bobs LOL

Yeah, i have some external wastegates and some manifolds (don't know how good they are though

How much should i set aside (if wastegates and manifolds are good)

clutch & flywheel - £600

injectors - £400

intercoolers - £600

rad - £280

suspension - £500

ecu remap - £100 or

standalone ecu and map - £1600

brakes - £800

boost controller - £300

gauges - £200

dual intake - £300

obviously your gonna need to remove the engine and fit the stuff or get someone to do it so you need to allow for between £2k and £3k for labour i would have thought!!

Not cheap to mod LOL

to just get the engine out your looking at 650 quid+

thats before any work ......sell them on Ebay and go on a holiday with the money :))

I'm a bit confused. If your engine isn't up to scratch then why did you buy the turbos? Or were you planning on doing a full rebuild, clutch, etc at the same time as having them fitted?

I was planning on getting an uprated engine (i still am) Im just waiting for a good one to come up really mate, That way would probably be cheaper than rebuilding with all the upgraded parts ( i think )

be better to get an engine already run in and probs already sorted, then just whack the tubs and and hope for the best lol

Would you consider selling the turbo kit...? then you could put the money towards some other stuff... you see, I;ve got the opposite problem to you - a forged engine sat in my garage with no tubs!!

Wise choice if one comes up. I bought bigger tubs and a low mileage engine last year and it's gone pop after a 1000 miles. Having it rebuilt now with a new bottom end, forged pistons, 550 injectors etc etc etc. If you're gonna use them turbos you know what you gotta do ;)
