How do you change a lighter????

I recently brought a 300, and shortly after a snooper to assist me in finding the camera's, but as my 300 is an import, the lighter plug that comes with the snooper is bigger than the Japanese lighter socket. I have tried to get the panel off, but there is only 1 screw in the ashtray to remove and the panel is stuck under the stereo section to stop the panel being pulled out to access the lighter. Can someone help me please.

How to do it:

1) Two screws are hidden up at the top vent of the upper most bit of trim.

2) Remove the screws under the bar at top of the radio.

3) Remove screws at gear stick trim and one in ashtray.

4) Now remove the inner core of the lighter (metal bit) and the clear bit will come out too.

Remember the electrics for the mirrors, clock etc are all connected to the trim.

I have just fitted a snooper also.

You don't really want that coil wire running down the dash.

I fitted mine to a switch, placed the small switch next to the clock and routed the wire up the front of the dash through the air vents.

I can now switch it off easily and it looks well smart.

Easy.

Cheers Dave.

PS.

Mine is an import also, but the socket fitted!!

Cheers for your help, the lighter is now sorted, and the idea of the hidden wire with a switch could be worth while so I'll have a go at that next.

Thanks again.
