Now the warmer weather has arrived, it's time to get my aircon serviced.

Does anyone know of a place near Swindon that could carry this out and what sort of price it would be?

Cheers - Dave

Andy we both have to be carefull when making joking comments as some members don't have a sense of humour! :headvswal :nelson:

I don't have time for anyone who doesn't have a sense of humour LOL :D

Nor do I! It will be a different matter when you pass them by on the motorway when they need our services after breaking down:D

As i posted yesterday Mate! There should be some local mobile air con servicers round your way that will come out to you at home or work place. :duffer:

Good old Google:

Try giving them a call :)

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks (Z)Master - Yes, my thread was deleted so I had to start it again, I think I know by whom but don't know why, but I daren't say any more as I am obviously under close surveilance.

Thanks Darrell - Your suggestion is spot on!! I was driving home this afternoon and by chance passed a Kwik-Fit and they had a banner up saying "AIR-CON RECHARGED OR NO CHARGE".

I popped in and established that they charge only £44.95 using an automated machine to recharge the air-con with a GUARANTEE that if they don't reduce the vent temperature by at least 10degrees then THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE.

Last year I had been told to expect to pay £90/£100 so I naturally got them to do mine straight away. It took one hour and my vent temperature was reduced from 23degrees to 9degrees. (They removed 0.24kg gas and replaced with 0.65kg gas - they also replaced 0014ml of oil)

I am really chuffed as my compressor hasn't switched on since I bought the Zed last August and now it is working 100%. :hyper: :hyper:

Kwik-Fit have apparently only been offering this service for about three months and are getting an increasing demand for the service......I'm not surprised....Kwik-Fit certainly are VERY highly recommended by me.

I have just had my TT Import Air Con recharged by a local garage and they had to change the valves on the system so it would fit their machine. It only cost £50 including labour plus £50 for the flush and recharge of the system. Is it normal to have to change these adaptors on the air con system on imports to enable them to fit UK equipment.

The import uses R12 - now illegal to refill with - there is a direct drop in replacement gas, but its better to have the new valves fitted - the it can be run with the modern stuff and works just as well - I had mine converted by Phil as C&S Wood

Kwik-Fit didn't have to change the valves on my import Zed as their machine connected directly, and they would have charged only an extra £19.95 if I had wanted my system flushed and cleansed. So they still seem to be giving the best deal Nationwide. (BTW I don't have shares in them, lol)

I was lucky, my Zed was already using the new refrigerant - R134a. If you need to know more about converting from the old gas, try searching this forum on 'aircon' as I know there was a lot of discussion on this subject last year when I bought my Zed.

Be very careful going to Kwik Fit with an Import which still has R12 in it - it MUST be completely de-gassed first, then a special treatment to make any remaining stuff inert plus a bit of oil - then a re-gas... Topping R12 up with R134a is not recommended.

Correct the system needs to be converted to r134a if its before 93 from memory.

Its the different Oil in the compressor thats the main problem.

Hi

Interested in this but noone seems to have mentioned anyone changing the drier as part of the service?

Was that not mentioned or costed?- always part of aircon service on my other motors.

Also- how do Kwik fit measure change in vent temp on models with climate control?

Regards

Dave

Very pleased for you mate! That's unusual for kwik fit but if they have done the job and they knew what they were doing and your happy then thats great :D

P.s yes i'd like to know who deleted that post and for what reason? as i can't see any genuine reason why it would have been deleted without and explanation of any kind? i cant see that it broke any forum rules.

Maybe someone will kindly own up to it and tell us why? :o

Thanks for your support, I've pm'd a Moderator friend of mine and he tells me it's not possible to trace who deleted my thread.

No matter, it's water under the bridge now. The important thing is my aircon is now serviced :hyper: :hyper:
