ah well i couldnt put it off any longer ......

the grinder came out tonight and it went to work on the bubbling paint and rust on the front wing and rear quarter just need to sort out both areas round the door handles and she's off to paint next week for the repsray

im tired covered in filler dust and have burn marks on my leg but at least theres light at the end of the tunnel......hopefully she should be done in 2 weeks and i can say bye bye to the nasty respray blowover its had and hello to the proper colour

going for the same colour but with a metallic pearl cos its had a cheap blow over at some stage cheers bud

Bloody hell you've slapped that filler on the arch! LOL

yeah used up some old stuff but when i was grinding the paint off it was about 5mm thick before i got down to the steel and i need a fair bit on to get the shape back of the arch and it looks worse cos the bumpers pushed back under the lip

You're best off welding new metal in rather than fill it with 3" of filler. Filler really shouldn't be used to build up from that much depth. Filler should be lightly skimmed on and blocked down.

pmsl naw there all oldies and are deaf the only time they tut is when the wind blows the filler dust on their washing

i agree mate but im stuck for the welding tools and its off to paint soon and theres loads still to do on it

Just hope your filler doesn't sink...being that thickness, it probably will. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly. Good luck though mate. :)
