A great tip for cleaning the temp sender & permantly removing that green crap.

 

Unplug & remove from car leave in half a glass full of Coca Cola overnight, it will come out like new, thoroughly dry out before reconnecting. And if you lose or havent got the securing pin, secure with a cable tie.

Presumably you could also pour Coke or wheel cleaner (Like Wonder Wheels) in the top of the sensor.

You could just buy a new one they only cost just over a tenner!!!

 

Then if you make sure the lip on the metal pipe is nice and clean and free of goo you should get a perfect seal onto the sensor, should be good for another 10 to 15 years!!

 

Its a very generic part fits most sunnys and primeras and should be available at all motor accersory shops if they dont catalogue it ask for one for a 2.4 maverick (1993 to 1996) or a kia sportage 1998 on!!

I tried the Wonder Wheels method at the weekend and it worked really well.

When i was a college one summer hol's I worked as a Car valeter for Quicks. Mainly New cars from the compound ready for the showroom, but also nice cars that were less that 2 year old got the full treatment.

 

Anything that they couldn't get of by various sovents available to the Valeters they would use normal coke. I could't believe it so to prove its cleaning abilities they put a 2p piece in a jar with coke and in a few days it was completely disolved.

it was more like six days, but the acids in you gut are a lot more agresive than coke. Even so I've never drunk much coke ever since, but mainly because it spoils the taste of beer and red wine.
