this is something the committee have debated for a while,

we have some funds available, how much do you think we should pay someone to give the site a overhaul? to redo the forum theme and graphics

bare in mind all the graphics so far have been done by myself (colour blind and design inhibited)

Good idea! have you got any examples/screen shots? Theres nothing wrong with the site athough a refresh could be a good idea?

Billy Joels classic with some slight alterations to suit the mood...... :D

Don't go changing, to try and please me,

You never let me down before,

Don't imagine, you're too familiar,

And I don't see you anymore.

I would not leave you, in times of trouble,

We never could have come this far,

I took the good times, I'll take the bad times,

I'll take you just the way you are.

Don't go trying, some new colours,

Don't change the layout of the forum,

You always have my, unwritten passion,

Although my posts drive you to boredom.

I don't want clever, conversation,

Id be on wikipedia if I did,

I just want someone, that I can type to,

I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be

The same old forum that I knew,

What will it take till you believe in me,

The place is perfect as it Is!

I said I love you, and that's forever,

And this I promise from the heart,

I couldn't love you, any better,

Unless the rides come back again.

I don't want clever, conversation,

I want to ask loads of questions,

That i could search for, really quickly,

But wheres the fun in thaaaaaaat.

I love all the complaints about sig size, are they aimed at me???

Ive taken the liberty of changing yours for you to keep the boys happy

Auto picture resize in rides to save newbies efin around would be good if possible

and a link from members lists to rides is compulsory.

Not bothered about signature size, got broadband and 20" monitor .

Everything else seems spot on apart from the forum clock. lol

The look of the site is pretty much great as it is TBH :)

Personally I'd only look at the following things:

1. Automatic sig size reduction if it's too big.

2. Increase the file size allowance for avatars a bit (the max 100x100 dimension is fine though

3. The rides section (;)). Hopefully in alphabetical order as well...;)

4. If you're creative finger really is itching, I stick by my suggestion in that old thread that a slick, professional looking intro page would make the site look more like a club rather than just another BB forum. You could even turn it into a competition for the members: design a front page and the submissions get posted up and voted on. Just an idea ;)

Leigh

Yep a nice intro page would be cool with maybe some featured articles/threads/news posted up each month :)

The sigs thing is just stupid for a forum like this.

I've never been on any other forum where people can just post up pages of pics and text on the bottom of every post and before you say it, I don't see why sigs should have to be turned off when they are there to contain useful info!

You can have quite a decent size wide image with a small file size but because it's not enforced by the BBS software people just post up any old hooog pic they find LOL

Maybe you should think of others visiting the forum from work, laptops on GPRS, smart phones, PDA's etc.

Not everyone accesses this site from home on a 20" monitor with a high speed broadband connection.

If you want to show off your car then link to the rides section, that's what it's there for ;)

Regards,

Chris, 300ZX.co.uk IT Manager LOL

Just the rides problem for myself.

Why were they removed before the new system was ready?

Just a small criticism.

top work their Leigh - 4 out of 4

andy needs sentencing for his crimes!

i think as leigh mentioned, the members designing bits and bobs such as intro screen, club logos etc followed by other members voting on what they like the best is a top idea :)

I love all the complaints about sig size, are they aimed at me???

Some good ideas here. Auto-pic sizing, show pics area, member location map, more ride pics.

Oh and while i'm here: ATTACHMENTS IN PM'S! :D (if possible?) so we can send pics to people without having to upload them elsewhere.

this is by far the best forum ive seen, i'd leave it as it is. job well done
