Alrite fellas,

I am just about to import a 300zx from Japan and was just wondering if any of you guys have any advice as to what year/spec ect I sould be looking at.

I was gona go for a 1994/5 ish Black manual...the 2+2 version.

Is this a good choice?

Also, do the seats in the back fold down for putting stuff like golf clubs in the car??

Thanks,

George

welcome to the club buddy, you will be able to fold down the seats to put clubs in (but must remove the blind aswell)

as for the model, its really up to you

Yeah,

Has to be the TT model obviously. Ive always wanted a 300zx so im looking forward to actually getting me paws on one at last.

Thats good news about the golf clubs fitting in, would have been disapointed there. There is a nice black 92 tt availablle but the muppet who owned it has done some kind of weird rear light conversion, would this be reversable?? ie could i reinstall the stock rear lights as I think that is the best looking bit of a 300??

possibly, but dont go calling things that people have done, there is quite a few people on here with rear light conversions that may get upty lol

any pics of the car you are interested in

very nice bud, it looks like they are just covers on the rear lights

looks like an impul front end

quite a nice example

So you rekon I should be able to undo the rear lights to stock handy enough then? Also I dont see where the front indicators are ??

Has 94kms stated as the milage. There is also a nice whit 97 one available but im keener on the black.

Is there anything I should know about different years ect? Someone told me that the older ones are better!!

They lost the variable valve timing in (95?) due to emissions laws in Japan, so were a little slower in stock form after that. Tbh the age of any stock cars before this year probably means they've lost a bit of power anyway (take a look at peoples dyno readouts in the relevent section) so it doesn't really matter. I'd go for the latest year you can afford/find.

that aint an impul bumper btw, not sure what it is though.

thought it was, its the same as zoggs and another person's on here, frazzergti i think

Has to be the TT model obviously.

Well approximately 15 to 20% of members on here have NAs. as opposed to TTs. And most of us chose an NA.

So clearly we dont agree with your view that the TT is the obvious choice.

And another 15 to 20% of us think that the 2+2 is a naff choice as we own 2 seater SWB models which we have deliberately chosen.

And finally a number of us do have complete replacement lights at the back cos we think the stock lights look dated and naff.

No I dont mind you having different views to me about what car is best but as StellaZ has said there are lots of people who see the car differently to you, but we dont come on here calling other peoples car choice naff.

So welcome to our club and forum. Enjoy. :D

i just load them in http://www.photobucket.com and follow the instructions

iam glad i was being nosey in this thread because ive tried putting photos up since ive joined...... gave up to wait for the rides/usercp to be up an running again but its as easy as this :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

thanks stellaz cheers

It was not my intention to hurt anyones feelings so for that I apologise. I am well aware of the rear light conversions that have been utilised by many 300zx owners, but the one that I was talking about was a particularly cheap and ugly looking mod.

Anyway, all 300zx cars are beautiful machines, its just a matter of opinion as to which model is best and which mods are nicest.

I will try to be more politically correct in any further correspondance.

There is a 95 300zx manual (White) with full 99spec body kit with only 60k miles that I can get my hands on for about €5000 or £3500 stg.

Problem is that it is in Japan and the auction sheet says that it has had the rear right qtr panel replaced and there is a "rattling noise" comming from the engine. It is immaculate other than this!

I have a feeling that the noise could be that the right rear muffler could have taken a knock and an exhaust bracket has come loose somewhere which is causing the rattle.

What do you guys think??

Should I just stay well away from it or what, my head is wrecked waiting to find a nice Zed and im starting to get a bit jumpy as regards purchase?

Please advise fellas!

no mate...but I did see that one before auction and wasnt very "keane" on it!

Didnt like the overall look of that one and thought the front bumper was a bit harsh looking!

This is it!

if you scroll through that link i posted to post number 17, kirbz has posted details about the car that's in your link

lol@ Keane

if you have any doubts about a certain zed go with your gut feeling as you have these doubts for a reason...trust me i know i bought a cheap zed and im ending up spending loads of time and money on it

if theres a rattling coming from the engine and you can't have a listen for yourself i'd stear clear. better to spend a bit more money on a decent car than buying a cheap one and having to repair it. there's a cars for sale forum on here which usually has a few zeds for sale in it.
