Hey people im new here. Basically i might be buying a 300zx soon and want to know abit about them. Its basically between an s13 200sx or a Uk n/a manual 300zx! I know plenty about the 200sx but not much about the 300zx.

So...

If i go for a 300zx ill be after 1993-1995 Uk n/a Manual Targa Top 300zx (what a mouthful!!)

so how much would i need to spend for a clean one, i was hoping to spend no more than £3000, will this fecth anything worth wile?

How does the n/a perfrom? i cant find performance figures online:

0-60mph times?

BHP?

Weight?

Top Speed?

Insurance Group?

MPG?

Any other advice is much appreciated!

Thanks

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94838 iff i was in the market for an na then ide like to go and see this one

ps the na was,nt available as a uk model ;)

welcome to the club mate.

the only N/A's that exist are all jap imports i'm afraid. if you're looking for a uk car it'll be a TT LWB. however my insurance on a jap N/A is the same as a quote i got for a UK TT.

as for the performane its pretty good IMO

0-60 is about 6.5-7 secs (i think)

BHP was 222 when new. i get about 25mpg from my N/A.

HTH

Ah right i didnt realise you couldnt get a UK N/A,

Insurance would be my problem with an import, and i dont think i could insure a UK TT as im only 20!

have a look here mate. get loads of quotes from different companies and see what happens.

im 19 and mines is insured, as a named driver with the 'main' driver having 1000000 years no claims and its still over 2grand ha!

Theres a couple of good N/A's available on the forum from forum members at the moment, the N/A is a good one to start with before going TT Mad!!

Try ringing around a few of the insurance companies, and haggle, also its a benifit being a fully subscribed member!!

thanks for the help so far, ill have a ring around insurance companies to see wat the craic is

Could i pick up a decent UK TT for £3000?

Decent one?? For 3K??

Probably not!!

Perks of getting an N/A is you wont have to fork out £1500 to replace knackered turbos!!

i got my na import when i was 19 insurance was no prob but probaly more expensive than uk tt!!!!!

Sorry cheema2007 im after a manual and your car is out of my budget.

Ran a few insurance quotes there, turns out i can get insurance on a UK TT for £1700 which is fine, yet they wont even quote me on a N/A import lol. Insurance is weird

So it looks like i might save another £1000 and try to spend around £4000 on a UK TT

So can i be annoying and ask all the same questions for a UK TT 300zx

0-60mph times?

BHP?

Weight?

Top Speed?

Insurance Group?

MPG?

Thanks

0-60 = 5secs or so standard, u can get it down to 4.5secs with standard mods (decat, chip, boost turned up)

bhp = 300 standard, can get it to about 360 with the mods above

weight = wikipedia will tell you

top speed = apparantly you can get it up to 185mph with it chipped and boost turned up to 1 bar, depends on the condition of the car

insurance = group 19 i think

mpg = between 10-17mpg

Cheema's about right here...... but you must have a heavier foot than me.

MPG is a funny one depending on how you drive......

.....somewhere between 1 (hammering it LOL) and 26 (crusing up a m/way at 70).

10mpg does seem very extreme, i was hoping for mayb 20-22mpg driving sensibly!

So how do these cars handle? I hear they hold the tarmac like a train in the dry but can be a handful in the wet, is this about right?

I had a UK one with KUMO tyres on the rear......they wern't too hot.

I now have a Jap one with the same size tyres as the UK one (245's)with Toyo tyres on the rear and in the wet it's not great, but a good bit better.

Just been to the petrol station and worked out that at the moment with a bit everthing driving, (some backroads, some town, some m/way, some heavy foot blasts past rows of cars) I'm getting about 19mpg

19mpg isnt just as scarey. So if driving sensibly 20mpg should be achieveable. Sounds good.

Just need to find myself a nice Twin turbo now! thanks for the info guys

If your thinking of buying a TT you cant go wrong with buying off this site as the cars are well known a generelly pretty well looked after, buying a 17 year old performance car isnt the sort of thing you should go into lightly by buying the first one you see at a reasonable price, they are not cheap cars to maintain or repair if you buy a dog from an unknown sorce, and there is a lot out there, especially a TT take your time looking untill the right one comes along, we are here for any help and advice. Buy a good one, maintain it correctly and it will return you with years of fun. Good luck with your search.
