My Z is moving from its country life to the big city this weekend (2 mins from ace cafe yay!!) Its not going to be really used during the week and its parked on the road. I really want to keep it as Mint as possible so i was thinking of a car cover.

I heard good and bad opinions on these and just wondered if anyone had any info.

Do they scratch the paintwork??

Do they make the Z more appealing to a thief or chav vandal??

No they dont make it more appealing to a chav theif or vandal.

They have to spend loads more time around the car getting teh cover off, risking being seen because the time increase.

Yes they ca dammage the car if the fixings are not good enough, and most arnt

As Chris says really, if you get a good one it wont be too bad at damaging paint, but it only takes a nice bit of grit to get under it and a bit of wind to flap the cover around a bit and its hello Mr Scratchy Scratchy

I've got a decent one...its custom made for the zed, its breathable but water proof, it also has a nice soft lining that doesnt scratch the car up.

Put it this way...its better than having no cover

Trick is to put them on the car when it's spotlessly clean. Don't fit them to a dirty car else you'll educe scratches etc.

Would really only use a car cover unless you're planning on keeping under wraps for weeks at a time. You'll cause more damage to the paint by removing and refitting it than leaving it outside.

You might be better off not putting it under a cover and cleaning gently each week with a decent lamb’s wool mitt and some good quality car shampoo.

Cant remember where I bought it, but a company does make a custom car cover for the Z, you can specify stock, SWB, LWB, high level spoiler etc.

Think it cost me £105 about 3 years ago. Can't remember the company name though. A few other on here have one I'm sure.

marcz32, what cover do you have??

Fully comp bud :slap:

I'll take a look tonight bud and post back here.

It depends where you live as well.

I have a cover cos I have trees in the garden.

Wash the car every week and it will get scratched to bits with the residue from the tree and little birdies bottoms.

Protect your car anyway you can bud. Covers or washing or what ever you feel it takes.

You'll find most peeps on here havent got covers, its not a thing that most peeps splash out on so they tend to buy cheapies that arent lined etc so they will prob scratch...you get what you pay for.

Either way dont skimp....if you get a cover, get a good one. If you wash regularly use good sponges and dont use your sponges twice they quickly get filled will scratchy stuff.
