Had the car off the road for the last year , has sat in the garage whilst fitting wide arch kit over the winter without moving (started car every couple weeks but never moved it).

Anyway , now that its ready to go in for painting i've discovered that the gearbox (auto) is stuck in Park and impossible to move it unless i press down on the little lever (right at the back of the stick). Then it is free to move up and down all the gears until it is put back into park. :headvswal

Also, the gearbox doesn't bleep now when in reverse.

Never ever had any problems with the box before , so surely aint it ****ed  or is it?

Going to change the gearbox oil and clean the filter , will this make much difference + what else can i do?

could be the switch on the brake pedal, the button is only released when you press the brake.

i was under the impression that the "little button" on the back of the lever was to stop it slipping out of park and so its functioning correctly ! At least thats what it does on mine and has done ever since i got it. If thats not true then best guess is a solenoid gone.

As for the reverse beep, i'd guess thats gonna be something electrical maybe a fuse or a connection somewhere.

I've just had a new box in mine as some div before me had bypassed the oil cooler resulting in a fried and mangled box ! Got a nice Trust 10 bar cooler now though lol

Have you got brake lights? If you havnt got any brake lights its proberbly the brake light switch not sure about the zed's auto box but some cars you cant get out of park if you have no brake lights or brake light switch faulty

i've tried pumping brake pedal but no joy. Pressing brake pedal works if your moving it in between any other gear, just doesnt take it out of park.

Well, i actually took all the lights out when it was in garage to fit rear light panel and still haven't connected the new lights up, was going to do that once it had been painted.

Do you think that might be all thats causing it?

Funny that, because i found if i parked mine up for a few weeks same thing happens with it sticking in park but after a drive its ok again, always wonderd why this happens.
