Went out yesterday to put petrol in the z and noticed a strange horrible dent in the bonnet...had another look today and seems like 2 dents now, but the strange thing is it looks like been done from inside, like pushed up or something nasty has popped up, doesnt seem at all possible for anything to have done it from the outside  I do have roadworks happening around my area but like i said looks like something under bonnet popped up, car is driving fine too. I am looking for a grey bonnet in very good condition if anyone has one for sale ;) cant bear to look at this strange horrible mess on my bonnet, ruins the whole look

Any possible explainations welcome

OR! someone with a tiny but very powerful magnet???

Meant sensible explainations.... :slap: I am really p***ed off about it

has it been to a garage lately for work?

Not unheard of for tools or lamps to be left under the bonnet then when they close it, crunch.

Any pics of outside AND inside of the bonnet.....any scrapes on the underside?

Ye slight mark under bonnet, will try do some pics tmw

That's a strange one, must have been done from outside surely, I can't think how it could happen from inside if it was parked up all day and the bonnet remained shut. I've had dents in my Alfa bonnet from kids jumping on it, it stretches the metal and you can't push it out, but they usually go over the roof too and down the the tailgate so you see the foot prints. Will be interesting to see the pics, is it possible to run over a large object and flip up and hit the bonnet without knowing it?

Well that might be a bit too generous? But I have got a good condition bonnet but its red and it does have a small dent. It got shot by an air riffle  If you think it would do you and you want it then I will swap for your dented one as i was only going to use it to practise with my air brush. :D

hmmm.......If only I had a magnet that worked on aluminium too :slap:

do you have a strut brace?

only other thing that can do that other than a tool left under tehre is the engine moving.

have a look at teh area where the dent is marked on the engine and see if there is a mark there. If there is, my money is on a shot engine mount.

lol.

maybe its a rubber toy left over from an experiment session.

someone said dave was walking funny

hmmm.......If only I had a magnet that worked on aluminium too :slap:

Oh OK funny guy.......................

I forgot to mentioin the STEEL BB's laying on the inlet manifold............

What's the location of the dents.

If the shock mounts go you would get a nice little nipple looking dent above them, but then it's rare that they would go at the same time. Even more rare they would be so fooked that they would leave a dent. However you probably wouldn't notice they were fooked while stationary, it's only when you go over a speed ranp or bump in the road that they will hit the underside of the bonnet.

try someone like dentmaster they should be able to sort it fairly cheaply they did a dent in my roof for 30 squid hth

cant you get some "sucker" pads, look like the things glasiers use to hold pains of glass with. they "suck" out the dent via a vacume. might be a cheap fix

Cheers for your replies, gona see a bloke tmw see what he can do for me. Been busy latey not got round to doing pics, but when i get time i will do some

Have you got the under bonnet insulation still in place? Have a feel around that if you have might be something under it or is there any marks on it where something may have pressed against it.

Ye it is there and yes there is one slight mark on that where the main dent is, but still alot of room between the bolts on coil packs and the bonnet that could have possibly marked it...Got a chrome oil cap too, maybe it was that but been fitted for ages now so cant see it,nothing seems to line up with the dent either, honestly, very strange dont slam my bonnet hard enough for that to happen either Unless someone jumped on it but surely would have more marks and dents
