hi chaps

fitted my rear strut brace yesterday and went out for a drive today and ive noticed the backend it quite wobbly when i go over bumps ( it seems to shimy from side to side ) .....is it just me not used to the stiffer rear or is it something that has arisen from the fitting of the strut brace

i fitted the front a while back and had no issues and now im a bit stumped ive checked all the wheels and nuts and they all seem fine and i rechecked the nuts on top of the struts and they are fine too

any advise well apreciated

cheers in advance

possibly knackered rear shox or hicas arms, the strut brace is probably stiffening the top, but that may highlight the problems at the bottom.

Go to the gym that will firm your arse up :D

No just kiddin, as above realy stiffening the top end will highlight the fact that something is loose.

Take the outer track rod off the hicas ball joints and check to see if they are shagged, if they are don't drive the car change them as soon as, you can check the inner joints at the same time, but its not as easy to see if the joints are rooted with the arm still connected so take it off.

If they are ok then go for shocks.

Like I said, if they are rooted don't drive the car your rear wheels will steer at will and could throw you off the road.

Surely you only need to jack the rear wheels off the ground and wobble the wheel from side to side to check for worn joints? Get someone to hold the inner and outer joints and they will feel any play. A small amount of play is normal wear and tear and won't throw you off the road, just give you the odd twitch over certain potholes.

know the feeling my ball joints are worn and my back end keeps kicking out all over the road quite scary!!
