Only had a zed now for about 3 months and its my first, needless to say the car has me hooked, anyways i really want to start chasing big horsepower, so ive been puting the building blocks in place ie.. just making sure the car runs perfect as it should, right so i think forging the engine would be a good move yes, so what size piston do i need to get??? will it be relative to any liner wear i have??? or will 87.5 be the one to go for???

Cheers guys

87mm is standard, so bore out to 87.5mm would fit forged pistons. I had JE pistons. 89mm would see you with a 3.1ltr engine, but I think from reading stories and a few pics, that its pushing it a little at 89mm.

I think someone said you can get 87mm forged pistons, but really I guess your better off getting it bored out and then you'll have nice new machined bores!

If your lucky enough to find them (87mm) Lol :D

You can actually go upto 92mm on a zed block, i know a few manufacturers who make them but tbh i wouldnt go past 90mm as your on the limits of the liners at 92mm

88 or 89mm is fine :)

thanks for the input guys, right so i need to find a machine shop to skim the liners down then, once i have the pistons rods etc.. will i need to uprate the cam shaft as well???? or even the crank shaft

how far you take your engine internal mods is entirely up to you.in the states many a zed is running 500rwhp on stock rods and crank as they are forged anyway.as for camshafts jwt do a set on an exchange basis for $550.you can still make 500rwhp without modified cams.i dont know anybody running the jwt cams but i know from experience that some cam upgrades can alter your engines characteristics so its worth doing your homework first.

Ok anyone know the stock cam dimensions / profiles ??

I think the stock cams are 252 or 254 degrees

Depends on how far you want to go, if its a fast street car then 264 or 266 degree cams should idle nice but if you want more wild cams then 268 or 272 degree cams but you may have an uneven idle.

The stock crank is more than enough for any power you can throw at it as long as its in good nick so get your machine shop to check it doesnt need regrinding
