I'm thinking about changing from TT to NA (changing cars, that is, not a conversion :D ). Most of my driving is daily commute in traffic jams so the TTs are a bit wasted. Main reason is greater practicality as a daily driver (I do about 12,000m a year). Against that is the big grin factor on the rare occasions when I do get a chance to use the loud pedal :hyper: . Not interested in mods - just good clean as-stock-as-possible. Had some good thoughts at the other place, wondered what you guys thought?

i think it depends on if your going manual or auto and if you've driven an NA? I think the manual NA could still be fun, but the auto NA might be a bit dull and probably won't be much more econimical.

From what you have said above I would recommend going for an N/A.

Get a SWB manual N/A and you will be grinning like a cheshire cat.

I used to have an N/A and I can assure you there is still plenty of poke...

hmmm that's what Mr F said...

Get an N/A auto 2+2 for Β£1500 (as that's how cheap they seem to be now) as a DD and keep the TT for the 'rare occasions'.

Would highly recommend an NA, I get about 25 mpg normally, and a bit more if its mainly on the motorway. plus you can still get it sideways when you want to.

I've drven an NA daily for almost 8 years now - first an auto and now a manual. 30 mile round trip daily and both do about 200 miles for Β£30 of petrol.

Β

If you are in traffic a lot, buy an auto. If you want to play with the engine revs buy a manual.

Β

My money would be on either a 92 auto (lots of kit for your money) or a post july 95 manual - VVT replaced by 'wild' cams.

Β

Either way get a derestricted Nissan TT exhaust on it for max fun without breaking the 'sound barrier'.

Β

Good luck.

Are you the bloke who discussed weight reduction in a Z a few years ago. Great thread. The NA is approx 13 stone lighter than a TT...

Thanks to everyone for such good comments - it seems the NA is a much loved version amongst its owners past and present...

Lardy, family hatchback

Own nearly all variants, TT NA SWB LWB manual and auto, I used my LWB auto round London for 2 years as a daily drive and it was spot on, its the only way to go for a daily drive IMO.
