hi guys can anyone help me, i z in the morning or when ever the engines cold has a starting problem when i turn the key it starts then dies on me even with the throtle pedal pressed, the secound time it starts with throtle pedal fully down but sounds like it fires up on only a few cylinders and takes 3 -5 secounds for the rest to kick in, also there is a strong smell of petty like its running rich, its defo not loos pipes in engine bay as i sorted that out

also the revs start on like 250 - 300 and slowly rise up to about 900rpm at idle, i have changed my wter temp sensor a few weeks ago but stil same problem, any suggestions would be appreciated tnx

ALSO DOES ANYONE HAVE A ECU FOR A ZX 1992 UK TT MANUAL?? TNX

Anyone??????

Sounds electrical rather than fuel, so first try cleaning the connectors on the PTU, see how you go with that, if no good see if you can borrow a known good PTU. Good luck

MY PTU WAS CHANGED ONLY BOUT 5-6 WEEKS AGO AS THERE WAS NO SPARK ON PLUGS, BOTH PTU'S I GOT ARE WORKING ONES.

Check ECU connector, this sometimes corrodes or the loom coming from the connector, possible you have corrosion in the harness

chekd it cleaned it, im fed up man had this car 4 years nevr any probs and when the probs started they had to be 2gether

Have you done an ECU check to see if you have any codes come up, im also guessing you have changed the plugs and tried swapping coil packs around to see if the non firing cylinders change with the coil packs?

oil packs have been swapped round too many times also plugs are new only done 50 miles on them, i cant do ecu or dash test as the light on ecu dosnt come on also dash engine managment light dosnt come on!!!

Ok its going to be a process of elimination, you need to put it on a consult to see if you are getting the correct pulse signal to ptu and coil packs Andy Duff is nearest to you with a consult he's in preston, only other things i can think of is a bad earth, ignition coil relay, EGR valve stuck, Power supply to the ECU, corroded ECU harness or bent pins or faulty ECU, thats pretty much every thing. Apart from going into the fuel side of things CAS and injector harness. As i say get in touch with Andy Duff put it on his consult he will find the fault

hi yeh andy's nearest to me, iv jsut spoke to him on another thread, i think ecu is fault as no engine light on dash or on ecu also when i had starting problem it was due to ecu not sending earth signal to ign coil relay to trigger it, i checked the wire between ecu and ign coil relay and wire was fine not broken, so what i did was connect the earth direct to body temp job, after a few days i took wire out and it was working with out it which was starnge but then the engine light and ecu diagnostic lights didnt come on!!

cas is working fine as tested b4,ptu out of it ign coil relays new egr valve ? power to ecu i think must be there other wise car wouldnt start at all wouldnt it? i think ecu must be faulty, andy has got spare so will be going down to him to test, tnx for your help

If you have datascan, test the AAC is working correctly. Is the AAC solenoid is dead or not getting signal from ECU idle will be low when engine is cold.

Once car is warm, what happens if you stab the accelerator, do the revs drop?

hi mate no once it warms up say 3-4 min after start car is fine perfect infact, but yeh when u first start and give gas theres no responce at all the revs just wana build up them self.

also i aint got no cable to link to laptop i had one dont know when its gone

As you know, it's tight around where the IACV is located. The IACV has two solenoids, one on the bottom, and one on top. You need to test the top solenoid to make sure it's working.

You can do this with alligator clips, and test with 12v and listen for the solenoid to click on and off as you apply the voltage.

hi where is the IACV located? any diagrams? tnx

I have the same problem...

hard time to start, but once its started everything is fine.

My car is a 95 so I don't have AIVs

my engine and my cpu are 92 so they should have AIVs

some people on that forum told me that my idle can be weird

if the cpu is program to have AIVs

So I just want to know if yours is similar
