My 92 Zx Tt Has Been Running Funny It Sounds Like A Subaru Than A Nissan, When I Started It In Morning On Tuesday All Day It Sounded Like A Subaru,y-day All Day It Was Like That But When I Got Home I Left It Running In My Drive, Without Me Doing Anything It Engine Tone Changed So I Reved The Car And Gess What It Sounded Normal And Smooth No Longer A Subaru Sound, So I Parked It Up, 2day I Started It And It Was Sound Running Normally After About 3 Miles 20 Min Engine Running And As I Was Driveing The Engine Tone Changed Again, I Noticed It As Car Vibrates More,i Left It Parked Up For Few Hours When I Was On My Way Home Again Still It Sounded Like A Subaru, When I Got Home I Thot Id Check The Coil Packs So One By One Tested The Coil Packs By Taking The Plugs Off Evry Coil Changed The Tone Of The Engine Except 1 Passenger Side 2nd From The Front Engine Did Nothing So I Swaped Coil Pack With Another And Tested It, Working Fine! Took Plug Out And Testd It Working Fine, So Put Evrything Back In Checked Wiggled Wires On Ptu Afm Cas Coil Packs Ecu And Injectors Nothing Made A Diffrence, By Now Car Had Been Running For Over 30- 40 Min, I Sat In The Car Being P***d Off Then Suddenly Car Changed Tone Reved It And It Was Normal Again!! I Sat In The Car For Over And Hour And It Stayed Like That, I Have Plenty Of Petty In It Also I Put In Injector Cleaner In Petty, can Anyone Suggest Anything Or Has Anyone Had Sililar Prob? The Coil & Plug On That Side Are Sparking Also Plugs Are New 3 Weeks Old, But This Probs Been Here For A While. Any Advise Will Be Appreciated Tnx

seriously though, check the injector connector! and clean it with some contact spray, it could also be an intermittant PTU or faulty wiring from PTU-COILPACK.

if the problem still persists, take it to someone who knows! its not a good idea to run a vehicle for sustained periods of time, whilst a cylinder is not firing! this will cause excessive fuel build-up this may well cause damage to the bores/rings (bore wash) so get it sorted sooner rather than later

Β

if you change the PTU for a good one or new type S2 version, this may well help cure the intermitant miss.

Β

if problem is not resolved and all options are covered, carry out a compression test/leakdown test to eliminate engine problems, but its more likely to be an electrical problem

also space out your writing, as it hurt my eyes trying to read it ;)

Question for ya....

ill try spacin writing out this time lolll, well now its running fine all 6 cylinders are working, ill take injector connectore out 2morrow and clean it.

could a blocked o dodgy injector cause this problem? as the coil and plu is sparking? also the ptu was changed 4-5 weeks ago iv tried the old one again and still the same. i thik my ecu is f**kd as there is no engine management light on my dash and i had a starting prob a while back which turned out to be the ign coil relay wire from ecu not triggering relay so wouldnt start the car, wheni done a direct connection to body earth to the relay car stared fine.

Β

altho this subaru sound prob was there then as well.

if it was a clogged injector it would be slighty differant and less intermitant.

Β

if the car is running fine on 6 then dont touch what is not broke! as you can un earth other problems by routing around, i would suggest checking the connector if the cylinder drops a *****ck again, and go from there. You dont want an engine managment light on the dash, unless there is a fault with the car. Or do you mean before you start the car?

Β

I would not worry about the miss, until it returns ;)
