I was browsing on zcentre.org.uk and wa looking at the spec differences with UK, Europe and Jap Zeds.

Now I know I have a jap Zed, but im conerned about my speedo and mile counter.

I do have the 180K/mph Clock in my car like this :

speed_jp.jpg

Thing is, on mine it has a black sticker saying MPH stuck over the center of the clock (covering the kmph dial)

My question is this :

Was there any mods known that would let you slap a mph sticker over the dial and modify the dial to show mph specs?

I dont think im doing kph, i would notice if i was doing 70kmph on the motorway! :p

The speedo has been converted from kph to mph using a chip on the back.

This is done a lot on the imports to make the speedo read mph. Shouldn't be a problem if it was done correctly.

How does this affect the odometer? the chip hardly changes that to mph? I've got the same km/to mph conversion and wonder what the real mileage is

The instrument pack calculates speed and distance based on electrical pulses from the gearbox... the chip divides the pulse rate by the correct factor so the speedo thinks the car is doing 70kmh when it is actually doing 70mph... etc... The odometer will clock up in miles from the moment the chip was installed.
