All cars registered after 1986 (IIRC) must have indicators visible from the side.

 

If you want to remove them, how about having repeaters built into the door mirrors?

You can move them, to the wing mirrors for example, but you must have side repeaters somewhere.

Thought about the wing mirrors, so may try and get hold of a knackered pair to play with first as mine are in tip top condition. Tried in the 'wants' section a couple of weeks ago but no one contacted me, I think ill try again

You might like to have a look at these in Hong Kong. I bought a pair but as yey have not had time to mate them to the original mirrors.
