when cold the zed will start fine firing on all 6, but when upto running temp sounds like it goes on to 5

have swapped ptu's same prob

have checked all connectors etc

it also seems that the cylinder that goes off is the one next to ptu

starting to get really pissed off with it now  might just get that gallon of petrol out of the garage an a match or two

swapped coils about still seemed to be same cylinder. will try the plugs next or just get new plugs to fit

I bought another PTU once to diagnose a similar problem and went right round the houses only to find that someone had sold me another duff PTU  at full price :xxx:

right think have found the prob :nelson: double checked coil pack connections and one under left handside is all broken and moves around also when you disconnect from the coil pack no change in engine note or when reconnected. when disconnect all others you can here a change in the engine note. the one next to the ptu is fine now.

so I am guessing at a duff coil pack

also is there anything to watch out for when removing the balance bar

cheers guys

yeah, mind you dont bang ya head on the bonnet

could you not borrow a coilpack off someone who aoint using the zed, it may save you buying one, cadpaul bought some ages ago, not sure if he stil has them

Hope you're right, but if it's not firing on that cylinder anyway, removing coil pack will prove nothing. For example imagine duff spark plug, it wouldn't fire with or without coil pack.

I had similar problem, running on 5, which was caused by someone disturbing the wiring loom running across back of engine/bulkhead. Found it and cured it by luck, otherwise I would have changed everything and still not cured it.
