recently installed limewire, took it off but still the same, ran spybot/adaware/xcleaner still the same any advice welcome :cry:

960 mb ram its a Toshiba just about 1 year old also on aol

If using windows xp go to c drive, find prefetch in windows and delete evrything inside it.

 

Restart and see how that works fella, if its still no good give us another shout and ill run you through some others tweaks :)

 

Edit: Obvious clean out of internet files too ;)

disable any startup programs you dont use. my only start up program is Kaspersky and it runs much quicker.

if your more confident go to run and type "msconfig" and disable the entries from there

typed msconfig in run clicked start up loads of stuff, but i dont know whats what though :confused:

disable the lot in the startup page and reboot... then manually start your firewall and anti virus proggys after next boot up :) im sure most other stuff you wont need in there until you select them but if you do just manually start them up and alter preferences :)

If you installed crap cleaner (its amazinly good) then right click the recycle bin and open crap cleaner, the click tools and startup and anything that you dont recognize get rid off :) It only stops it starting up by itself, it will still be there when you need it.

 

Also download startup mechanic, It will then ask you everytime something trys to add itself to the start up menu. Its a lazy way of not having to remember to do the above all the time.
