I am getting a strange creaking / knocking noise coming from what sounds like the front right of the car when I turn hard right. I previous FWD I have owned that I a deffinete right CV joint problem but I tried to have a look around my wheel last night and I could see (or feel) a cv boot. Do zed’s or any RWD cars have cv joints on the front or just a free bearing?

What could my problem be if it is not that? Is there a rear cv joint or something similar with the HICAS?

no cv joint on the front !

make sure the wheel isn't catching on anything. Jack the wheel off the ground and give it a spin so you can source the problem

IIRC from other posts i've read it sounds like the tension joint has worn / rusted and is moving around creaking etc

hhmmmm interesting. I will jack up this weekend and take a gander. Would this ring true with teh creaking/clicking sound i am getting when turning right?

Could be the upper suspension link/bushes are worn as it often causes this.

Tension rods would show up as a bad shuddering when braking (a bit like warped brake disks) so unlikely that.

Id bet on tension rod bushes, or maybe shock tops.

Try spraying them one at a time with wd40 or similar, which ever one youve done just before the sound stops is the culprit.

WD40 wont be a permanent fix, the noise will be back after a week or if you drive it in the wet.

If its a front wheel bearing on the way out you should be able to pick up play at the wheel and they sometimes make a noise like there is a carrier bag or simalar trapped in the hub.
