pipes that go into exhaust

can i block the pipes that used to go into the stock exhaust.

 

i've fitted decats and pulled off the rubber hoses that used to be connected but the metal pipes are still sitting out, is it ok to just bung these? what are they for, from?

    AIV's, you can remove the whole lot, the units are in the inner wings, remove the wheel arch liners to see.
