Well I have just landed the job of my dreams. But how will this affect my Zed?

In September I start work in Toyota's Research and Development site. I will be working on Body Design, will involve a lot of travel, especially to Japan. I get to work on their new body designs, and also get to visit tons of motor shows around the world.

Now the bad news. :( I will be based in Brussels, Belgium for the first year, then moving to Japan for nearly 2 years. Well actually thats great news for me! But not for my Z. I am nowhere near finished building it to my spec, having spend thousands to get where I am.

Belgium being L.H.D. and Japan being on the other side of the world is going to cause Z problems. I dont think importing my import BACK to Japan is a good idea!

I will probably take it to Brussels for the year and see what it's like. But Japan opens up much wider options.

What do you lot reckon?

Belgium isnt the problem, I'll drive it there, and hope I survive in a LHD country. It's the 2 years in Japan thats will see the end.

look at it in the positive way it is - youve got the job of your dreams and it sounds like one hell of a job. surely there are options as to leaving it over here.

Hey if your earning good money and with Toyota you'll get massive new car discount.

i'm looking into my crystal ball and seeing a new 500 BHP Lexus Supra coming into your life :D :D

Best of luck with the Job. Thats sounds like my kind of dream job too.

I would certainly take it to Brussels then store it for the two years. When your in japan buy a 99 spec, then import it back to the UK when your done and make a profit.

Cheers for the replies guys. :)

Sell it.... When you're in japan, you'll probably be able to find an insane one from a jap tuning house anyway for about 3K.... Use it in Brussels, then sell back someone, possibly on the forum.... Remember you're moving to the land of the rising sun afterall.... where this car originated anyway.... Keep in touch though..... you could start a side line in aftermarket parts for forum members ;-)

I think if I was to sell it, i'd put it back to standard, especially with zed parts > zed prices these days. I'd hate to though. Planning and building my car has been a major thing for the past year, but i'm only approaching being half done.

When i'm in Japan i will be most definitely be on the lookout for zed bits for everyone here, be sure of that! :)

Damn the Belgians for being LHD :(

store your car in brussels when you go to japan, then when you go back to brussels in two years time turn it into left hand drive, i dont know how difficult it is to do but i think it can be done. problem solved :)

Forget the driving on the wrong side of the road problem, its old hat ! :)

I have driven for a living in France, Holland and Spain. No sweat !

Well today I asked them for an increased salary before I sign the contract. Just to bring it in line with other job offers that I have had. So fingers crossed on that one. :)
